Things are/have been changing quite quickly all around.. govs need to keep up with these changes so will have to do u turns sometimes.
Windfall tax, don’t know how much that will help in the long run.. but it may help in the short
whether or not to - fine balancing act.

and already businesses are considering their position in light of the new tax
https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/may/26/bp-to-review-north-sea-investments-windfall-tax

these businesses pay shedloads of tax. if they take their bats home, it won't be good for government, or anyone else.
Why are u-turns considered bad?
Question Author
18.41 Because Boris was driving in the wrong direction and he thought he knew it all as usual, then due to his very bad driving he could see a car crash ahead so he did a very very quick U Turn to save his own skin. OK.
What a huge coincidence that the announcements were made the day after the Sue Gray report was published. Did the needs of the pee-pull take second place to the needs of the pee-em?
So is it good news or bad news gulliver.. Your confusing me

bob: "I can see your a Tory agent trying to make socialists look ridiculous and out of touch" - mission accomplished then!
It's the silver lining to partygate. BJ is forced to do something good to distract everyone's attention for a bit.
tomus is right - Boris has been forced to use socialist-style handouts to placate an increasingly unhappy public. I suppose when TTT insists Blair wasn't a real Labour PM, just a quasi-Tory, he may also have to point out that Boris is really a Labour man.

Of course we'll all be paying for it in the long run. But I hope it'll keep the wolf from the door for a lot of people.
Question Author
00.28 .If Boris's advisers had thought about it they would have advised him to make these "socialist style handouts", about a month before the next G/E, .
....Dumb Tories....lol.
We may only be a couple of months before the next GE - he should call it NOW.
Question Author
11,48 I wish !
^^^ me too, Boris back with only a 20-30 majority!
The government has been making ‘socialist style’ handouts throughout the pandemic … or haven’t you noticed? And this isn’t the first windfall tax imposed by a Conservative government. Google it and dispel your delusions.
