Where Is The Condemnation? Or Does This Lack Of Condemnation Suggest Tacit Approval?
When an Islamist extremist commits an act of terrorism, some claim that a lack of condemnation from ordinary Muslims is tantamount to tacit approval.

It's sad that many Americans show more respect for the 2nd Amendment than they do for the concept that people should be able to go about their lives in peace. I think after the Sandy Hook shootings it became clear nothing was going to chance.

Lack of condemnation does not speak to a sense of tacit approval.
It speaks to a simple lack of time, and the understanding that some things can actually be taken as read, without the need to state them verbally, or a a site like this.
If I wrote down all the things I disapprove on a daily basis, i would be here all day, and night, and the next day.
But I like to think that my fellow AB'ers are intelligent enough and similarly in line with my views on the most obvious offences to even the most basic of moral compasses.
For that reason, I don;t feel the need to express my condemnation of this act.
If you wish to think that points to tacit approval of it, then that is your assumption, and your problem.

This is that kind of comment that is raised frequently on AB whenever there’s a terrorist incident, or a story concerning Islamic extremism.
The same people say that unless followers of Islam don’t condemn the act, then “surely they’re giving tacit approval”.
I’m hoping that this will now be forever put to bed.
