Have used this for ages and everything works well taking photos but all of a sudden I cannot view what I have taken on the camera without taking out the card and putting it in my PC!

It all went wrong when I took a photo and it showed as having taken 4 shots one after the other, I managed to stop this happening somehow but the settings are hard to understand as I am elderly.

To view my photos just taken I used just to press the little button at bottom of camera which says menu (up) and delete down) then pressed the little silver button next to it and I could scroll thru the photos and delete if I wish.

Now when I press the button down all I get is a list of suggestions about using the camera. I cannot get rid of this list - so where is the original view/delete options? In simple terms please!

Thanks everyone

If you use the camera's 'Initialize' function, it will return everything back to the way the camera was when it first came out of the box, except that it WON'T delete any images. So that's what I'd do in your situation. (It will probably be far quicker than trying to work out what you've previously pressed in error!): Press the 'Home' button (at the bottom right,...

I don't know your particular camera but the usual button to press for a review of your pictures has sort of sideways solid triangle next to it. You seem to be pressing the Menu button.
Two things
It is important to Format the card in the camera regularly or it may become corrupted.
In menu and settings there is a Format function. It wipes it all so ensure all is downloaded first.

Secondly there will be a factory reset in the same menu do that and set it up again.

I suggest you remove the battery say overnight and replace and strat up next day resetting the camera and formatting the card.
That should do it.

So that's what I'd do in your situation. (It will probably be far quicker than trying to work out what you've previously pressed in error!):

Press the 'Home' button (at the bottom right, below the big round 'Control' button).

Use the Up and Down buttons (around the edge of the Control Button) to get to 'Main Settings', then press the centre of the Control button.

Then use the same procedure to select 'Initialize'.

The message 'Reset to Default Settings' will appear. Use the Up button to select OK and then the centre button to confirm.

[PS: I disagree with Mjwman. I see no need to format the card, which will delete all of your images, and I can't see how doing so could affect the camera's display settings anyway].

Good morning both
I have tried all the methods you both mention but there is still no delete function!
On the menu tiles there are camera settings-custom settings-wireless-Playback and setup.
In playback it shows delete-view mode- index image and others but except for view mode all others including DELETE have the message 'this function is currently disabled'
The camera takes photos no problem and if I take out the card and put it into my laptop all the photos are there.
This started when I took some photos and it took 4 shots all the same. In settings it says auto review 2 secs but if I switch this to off it makes no difference. Pressing the menu button down to where is shows delete only gives me a green list of suggestions!
Thanks again

The SD card has a little slidey-thing on one side which is used to lock the card and prevent images being deleted. The position of this slider is detected by the camera - I'm guessing that a small pin is pushed by a spring into what should be a hole in the card. If this pin in your camera is sticking it might think that the card is protected when it isn't. I'm not sure it's something you could get at and, if you take it to a repairer, it will probably cost more than the camera is worth. You can live with it, of course, as you can put your SD card in your laptop (as I do) and delete the photos from the SD card there but if you want the ability to delete photos in the camera you'll have to get it fixed.

Thanks both of you for coming back. I checked the sd card andthe little slider is in correct position - I tried another card and it was the same! card in for my hols so I do not run out of space
I will just live with it I think and view photos/delete on my laptop.
I will put a larger gb card in for my hols so I do not run out of space
Thanks again

If the slider was in the wrong place you would not be able to take photos (try it). so I think the fault must lie with the camera. It might even be worth trying putting the slider in the "safe" position, trying to use it and then moving it back. It could just be that that action unsticks whatever is sticking. Free to try and nothing to lose. Just out of interest I've just tried looking at my own cameras (a Panasonic and a Canon) and I can't see anything obvious that moves inside the card slot when I power them on with the card removed, although the fact that the camera detects there is no card present might stop it.
