she may be "our" queen but she's his mum
Or a sneaky newspaper, if the Sun can be called that.
That should keep him out of mischief.
She's on an all out mission to restore him to public life before she goes. I hope she fails.
Me too, Dave. Princess Anne would be a more fitting chaperone.
Teflon coated - but unfortunately he is her son.

Surely someone else could accompany her? Wonder what Charles and Edward think about him being called her “favourite son” and what will happen to him when Charles is King?

Vulcan, in Metro, and probably other papers as well.
Andrew is her son and she loves him.
As she realises she probably doesn't have much time left on this planet, she is spending what time she can with him.
We will have to wait and see what happens when Charles becomes King.
The guy's a complete *** but she's the ruling monarch, and she can pick and choose which family member chaperones her to an event. Whether we agree with her or not is completely irrelevant.

Not if she thinks it important to retain the status & popularity of the monarchy.
isnt HE the one who needs the chaperone?

Kitchener (notoriously gay) used have a keeper dog his steps - everyone in the ICS ( Indian Civil Service silly ) knew apparently

Do you honestly think that any royalists are going to suddenly turn republican because Andrew accompanies his mother to a horse race? They may tut a little and shake their heads, but in the great scheme of things, it'll soon be forgotten.
BTW - That's Prince Andrew - just to avoid any confusion!!!
Well we'll see won't we - I am expecting some radical changes when Chas & eventually Willie take over.
No doubt the tv cameras will zoom in to catch him running his eyes over any fillies on show.
This family are the most crazy in Britain. Have they no insight as to what normal behaviour is ?
Agree with you there Dave. I think Andrew only has as long as his mother's around for in the spotlight. Once she pops off, Andy'll rarely, if ever, be seen as a working royal
The Queen is perceived as having a rare blind spot where her middle son is concerned, and her willingness to go against public opinion appears to bear that out.

As far as the prince is concerned, ether his utter absence of self-awareness means that he really does see himself as utterly fabulous, and unable to be anything but wonderful twenty-four-seven, or he is so cold-hearted and arrogant that he simply doesn't care what anyone else thinks about him.

I am honestly not sure which it is, but I seriously doubt that his profile will remain this high when Charles becomes king.
For 12 million I'd at least want the car valeted too.
