It’s unbelievable, not only were we subjected to athletics, rugby and formula one on three of the main channels on a Saturday evening at peak times, tonight at peak times, we have to suffer athletics, rugby, football and as a special treat highlights of last night’s formula one. All usual programs have been dropped, so it’s hard luck if you’re not a sports fan. I’m lucky as I have other channel options but feel sorry for those who have no other choices and don’t like sport.

I've sat through 4 football matches, snatches of F1. But my revenge comes later when I watch tg e Indian Wells finals! Hubby doesn't like tennis.
How many people really have "no other choices" other than the "three main channels"?
Are you telling me that Peaky Blinders is not on tonight?
Question Author
No, you’re safe there Tilly, BBC1 are showing usual scheduled programs tonight.
Phew! Thank you. :-)
Well, I can't speak for the OP, but I have a couple of hundred channels to choose from, not to mention three different streaming services. I can't see how anybody can whine about a lack of choice.
Surely there isn't ANYBODY who has only 3 chanels to chose from?
you on the electric?
I agree, lots of sports on tv. I have lots of channels, but not too many of the programmes are much good. Had a Columbo day, but had enough of that too. And Wales lost yesterday.
Almost everyone can get freeview. Lots of weird and wonderful on the lesser channels. Surely something watchable?
Fuming that they took the final of DOI off air for football ! ITV have several channels, surely either could have been moved to another of those channels ?? Ant & Dec was taken off last night for rugby. When it was announced on the show last week, the studio audience boo'd - good for them ! I regard Saturday and Sunday TV as escapism entertainment to just wallow in. Far too much sport on mainstream channels and heaven help us when the world cup starts in earnest !! I agree with with you Netty.

Thanks burlyshirley, was beginning to think I was on my own there for a while.
You're welcome Netty. The mainstream channels do this all the time and it's very frustrating !
I was enjoying The Great Australian Bake-off on more4 Sunday nights...until it suddenly vanished. I've discovered that it's been moved to Saturday and Sunday at 9am...whyyyyyyy?? Because of all the other weekend breakfast cookery programs? It's the only reason I can think of.
Oh, a tip for GBBO fans, the new celebrity stand up to cancer series starts this Tuesday on Channel 4. I love it !
I know...I'll be watching it also. But probably on 4+1 as I watch Great British Menu on BBC 2 first.
In answer to BurlyShirley. What is about Ant and Dec that gets everybody so excited?Whatever it is it is something I cannot see.
I agree Grumpy - the minute Ant and Dec are mentioned I switch over (or switch off). Thank goodness for iPlayer and Netflix.
Resorted to Netflix and BBC documentary about the NhS history over the weekend, apart from F1 yesterday (which we are not so interested in now the rules have changed.)

We've no interest in other sports.

Ant and Dec are an absolute no no. Have been for years and years. We really can't understand their popularity.

Oh. We did watch country file. We always do.

Television is dire these days.
I agree there are lots of Freeview channels and others to watch but rarely find anything interesting and they are mainly old and repeated. OH watches a lot of Yesterday stuff and boring programs about car engines and aircraft, and after I disappear to bed.

Even AB offered nothing but a long verbsl fight about the current war and boring stuff!! ;0((
