May the good Lord please that this is hypothetical, but if and when Russia 'conquers' Ukraine and the dust settles - which Country is next in Mad Vlad's sights? I suggest that this is an opener not a finale.

Moldova. It's certain that Transnistria would be subsumed into whatever god-awful hell emerged from this. It's a tiny territority sandwiched between the Dniestr and Ukraine: the film of Lukashenko in front of a map explaining Russia's military attack plans to his folks has Transnistria already as part of it. I think that Putin wants to reclaim the countries that were members of the USSR.
Moldova, most likely? There's already a Russian presence in Transnistria.

But a more realistic future -- at least, I hope it is more realistic -- is that Russia is bogged down in Ukraine for years, and the price paid for it too great, for any other country to be threatened in the near future.
well the non NATO ones probably, Moldova is vulnerable as is Finland and Sweden gawd knows why they Sweden and Finland have not joined.
Moldova.

Would they cross the Dniestr into free Moldova? It's not in NATO of course and was also part of the old Soviet empire. Part of it was originally subsumed into the Ukrainian SSR and when Molotov and Ribbentropp did their dodgy deal in 1940, Romania was forced to give up parts of its territory (Bessarabia and Bukhovina) to it and it became the Moldavian SSR .
A classic Monday night history lesson from Putin if god forbid it should come to it.
Having, over recent years, enjoyed their new found freedoms, once the hardship that the Russian people are inevitably going to experience hits, I wonder if another revolution isn't in the offing? I so wish someone would drop a bomb on him!
Lithuania I think next on his list. Has a border with Belarus as well as Russia. Ideal for an invasion as has happened to Ukraine.
Lithuania is in NATO - he would be truly mad to attack there.
//I think that Putin wants to reclaim the countries that were members of the USSR.//

Indeed , i have said that on many a thread on here
He is mad though Dave. Does anyone really think NATO would do anything but sit back as they are now. A threat of nuclear response off him might make that their best option??
// Putin wants to reclaim the countries that were members of the USSR.// Indeed , i have said that on many a thread on here.//

He wishes to re establish the old 20th century order as set in stone and has said so - Ukraine, Byelorussia, estonia Lithuania and Latvia to be neutral buffers againt the Americans and NATO
He wants to recreate the USSR without a doubt. Whether he will go into NATO countries is another matter. Troops are already bolstered in the neighbouring NATO countries so he would have to attack them. Maybe they wouldnt have the impetus the Ukrainians have but they are much better armed.

As for the nuclear option, well that could happen any time.
If it's not in NATO and it used to be in the USSR he'll be wanting to invade it, and depending on how Ukraine goes he probably will.

I think he's lost his marbles.
I hope not Lithuania. My d-I-l’s family is there.

Not that I would wish ill on any other country of course. Surely someone will put a bullet in his head soon.
Tomorrow's Star on Sunday (not the most reliable news source, admittedly) say that 'sources in the Pentagon' claim Putin is suffering from bowel cancer, and 'is in constant pain'.

Oh dear, how sad.
Putin's face looks swollen to me like he's maybe on steroids.
