Whilst true figures will always be disputed I wonder what Putin would consider to be an acceptable number for him to achieve his aims ?
I understand it is a moot point as the human cost of lives lost will not register with him regardless of whether it is Russian soldiers or Ukrainian civilians
What would be an uncomfortable number before the Duma or his own generals acted ?

The more Russians who die the worse for him. In 2014-15 they were able to sneak the body bags back and no doubt pay the parents to keep quiet
In all ways military hardware wise Russia is superior although Ukraine has very good and plentiful anti-tank weaponry.

They will not see them as foreigners
They speak the same language and were once part of the USSR
Some of them may even be attacking their own extended or distant families
