Gives you something else to overly panic about I suppose.

Ta Sticky, new to me also, always good to learn something :-)

I echo your hope for everyone's' safety.
I didn't know we'd had a storm. When was that?
It's a red warning for N Devon and N cornwall now. I wonder how many idiots will go down to the sea to see it.
Cue the influx of videos of flying trampolines and wandering wheelie bins on Youtube.

The Sting Jet is a demonstration of how unequally the income of The Police was divided up.
// Sting Jet //

a private aircraft flown by Gordon Sumner?

A sting jet is a small area of very intense winds (often 100mph or more) that can sometimes form in powerful weather systems crossing the UK. Relative to the size of the storm, the sting jet is narrow, often 30 miles across, and only lasts 3 to 4 hours.
Sky news use the word 'could' four times...yet you tell us ''Will be quite a buffeting''

How sad

Now I've read the link I am worried. My roof came off my Dales cottage with just one 100mph gust. It made a very loud cracking noise and destroyed mine and next door's roof. Where I live now we have 3 protected trees all about 30m tall overlooking our gardens. They are quite frightening in high winds. Eeek!

Better to be prepared for something that doesn't happen than to be unprepared for something that does.
