I think she sat alone, to show an example, due to covid. Very wise... I still can't give a monkeys about who partied and when. They gave the advice that was... potentially, safest, which was right. Risked themselves, up to them. What bothers me is those fined or literally prevented from seeing dying people. But I see that as a different issue... that was down to...

Disgusting behaviour on their part. I am not able to say exactly what I think.

A mealy mouthed apology is not enough. Not truly sorry for what they have done but sorry for themselves on being found out.

As bad looks go it doesn’t get much worse than that does it and in the Daily Torygraph too.
All I’d say is that I guess the Queen HAD to do that for her own safety so maybe a teeny bit unfair.
But surely another case of ignoring the rules and did the PM not know what was going on?
He seems “not to have known” an awful lot
To little to late, that's been Boris for 2 years.
All this hand-wringing is ridiculous! The 'party in full swing' was a bunch of people who work together day in and day out having a drink in the garden at their workplace.
i keep reading/hearing quotes that the queen was forced to sit on her own at the duke's funeral? . . . no she wasn't

Which was against the rules of which they themselves set Naomi

How long can this drip-drip continue? We know of a number of events, which suggests a pattern of behaviour. So maybe one or two get-togethers a week - leaving, promotions, birthdays, weddings, births, etc. Are we going to have apologies, "PM was /wasn't at that one", didn't realise it was a ***-up? Come clean now.

Not sure if she was or she wasn’t ael but she certainly led by example
So if they hadn't gone out through the kitchen door into the sunshine that would have been alright. Okay.

As long as there was one person meeting another 2 metres apart ( their rules, not mine) yes I guess it would of been fine Naomi
All this hand wringing is ridiculous? Only if you choose to be oblivious to rule breaking.
I don’t think at least one of these parties was in the garden was it?
Why couldn't they have worked fro home. Lots of people did and lots of people lost their jobs because of their dictates on closing and not mixing.

Think how HM and DoE behaved. Nobody forced them but they knew the meaning of the word duty.

They (politicians) cannot make an apology that is good enough.
And they WERE parties. I dont think anyone can seriously deny that
i've read your link danny and still can't see why she was 'forced' to sit alone
Take any office block that couldn't work from home at that time, and most of them, if not all decided to go outside to drink and eat. What do you think the police would have done had they been seen? I didn't see my local staff at Tesco's having a great time outside at break time :0)
I'm with you Bobbs and the fact they are apologising to her means they know they were in the wrong. I will say though that I don't think the Queen needed to sit on her own, I'm sure Charles, Andrew or Edward could have sat with her, but I think, as a conscientious and caring woman, she decided to lead by example knowing that many others during the pandemic had had to do the same thing at loved one's funerals.
The Queen was also sitting alone to set an example, something Boris knows nothing about or cares it seems.
