My son is a science teacher and is super excited about this.
10 billion for what, how many people waiting around the world for their first vaccine.
In orbit around the sun 4 times further away than the moon.
It's taken 30 years to arrive at this point .
That's a long time - I would love to know what needed to be done over those 30 years .

Let's hope the telescope unfolds successfully

Correct me if I'm wrong I thought the Corona virus revealed itself a couple of years ago ?

Spot on Bazile, there's always one isn't there
Teapots1 seems to be in a very negative mood this Christmas. The James Webb project has already seen several spin-off technologies developed, including those which are leading to advances in medical science:

I'm delighted that the telescope has been launched successfully. Let's hope that the rest of the mission can go exactly to plan too.
Corona virus being the only medical problem that's needed funds then in the last 30 years. Not to mention the millions that have staved to death in some countries. The latter they say difficult due to logistics?
I see optical, what else? But we can drop food by air with the optical's we already have.
excellent but the commentator got it wrong its not going to the edge of the universe ! its parking around 1.5 million miles from earth and will be able to see better the edge if the universe.
The Hubble Space Telescope has been a great success and has greatly advanced the knowledge of mankind.

And James Webb promises to be amazing, with a much bigger lens and the advances in computing since 1990.

I wait in eager anticipation for its first discoveries. Money well spent (including some of our contributions to the European Space Agency).
Got to be worth a look
How long will it take to get to it's parking position ?
Why did they not wait another 30 years and make it stronger so they would not have had to put it into space ?
They need to be outside of our atmosphere for the clearest view, wee calf.
The telescope is put into space so that the light that it detects is not distorted by the Earth's atmosphere.
wonderful, if we listened to people like teapots we'd still be living in caves.
