I usually keep out of the trans discussions but this had me face-palming.

She is charged with committing a public nuisance by indecently exposing her penis to other members of the public, whilst masturbating from a property window.

Just an aside. When I was training as a nurse in the early 60s we had an hermaphrodite as a patient who was having surgery and the consult said he was making her a vagina as this was easier making a penis.
17:50. No they don't, mozz. They don't even know what that means.
Thankfully, calmk, nowadays nobody would make that mistake.
I agree Naomi, and have often said so.

It can only ever be their personal interpretation of what a woman is.
I never said it was Pixie, as that's a choice only an individual going throw gender reassignment surgery can answer.
Thanks pixie, its extended family and through marriage, so don't have much of a say. I will think hard on this but will have to think carefully what, if anything, I say to him (her). Thankfully the process is fairly long, although I've been told they are going on a 'shared care' scheme which means half NHS and half private, so not sure what the time frame is on that. I dont want to fall out with him or his wife over this.
All I meant Pixie, is that they only have to feel like their personal interpretation of femininity. If they feel like a more complete person, whether it be comparable to "cis" women (I loathe that term), will likely be enough for them.
I understand, apg, if you are able to just pass that on, please do. I now know 3 males, who started, and then stopped this process. And they all have to pay privately for breast reduction now. They are only between 18 and 20.

Mozz, it's nothing to do with social "femininity" or what is expected. Sex differences can't be changed, even if outward appearance can. Mental issues should not be treated by physical means, any more than offering liposuction to someone who is anorexic.
It's just heartless.
No, mozz, we don’t know what it feels like to be transgender but we aren’t asking society to make special concessions to accommodate us. I really object to being expected to lie because these people demand it. J K Rowling has been cancelled because she said people who menstruate are called women. Why has she been ostracised? They are!!
What really irritated me about the (correct) thing Rowling said, was the three unknowns she made very rich came out and, to all intents and purposes, bullied her.
Deskdiary, they did and they should be ashamed of themselves. She has actually received death threats from the trans brigade - enough to paper her house she says.
// the consult said he was making her a vagina as this was easier making a penis.//

terrible results - cringe making as I read. They should have had the idea of "what does the patient feel?" and done the surgery appropriate to patients' feelings. They didnt and as a result 50% had the 'wrong' assignment.

Hence - or - it becomes, the current dispute over gender delaying drugs. Are the children old enough to make such an important decision? I am glad I am not one of them ( doctor in that specialty of course)
// death threats from the trans brigade - enough to paper her house she says.//

authors' ya-ya innit?
OK authoresses' ya-ya. Figure of speech. "Paper an X" - means so cheap or worthless it can be used as wallpaper. I think the 1923 worthless Mark was the index example. Hence the death threats were worthless ....
Pixie, it's only your opinion that TG is a mental issue though. "Experts" (I use the term loosely) don't think the same way. It's an unfair comparison between that and the anorexia metaphor. Gender reassignment surgery isn't going to lead to someone's death on the operating table.
but
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4822482/

interestingly the gender reassignment patients have a decreased life expectancy. wasnt er expecting that.
PART of it is that hormone therapy leads to heart disease
PP, is there any point in telling you not to be stupid? Death threats are not a joke!
what an e-state she was in......
Mozz, the average life expectancy of transsexual people, is 28.... Let's not pretend it's doing them any favours. And anyway, this is about transgender- doesn't involve operations.or hormones.
It isn't actually my personal opinion either, it's only what we know so far. My personal opinion, is that there may well be undiagnosed intersex people, who may have differences in their brains... but all a bit pointless here.
PP, it's (obviously!) easier to make someone sexually look male than female, but not possible facially. If in doubt, it's safer to assume male. As that is most likely.
Transgender/transexual is one and the same, although given what is said here, I will start using the former rather than the latter.

C&P from an article in Medical News Today.

The terms transgender and transsexual can refer to a person who has a different gender identity to the sex that a doctor assigns them at birth. However, many people find the term transsexual outdated and offensive.
