Did they get the dimensions wrong as drivers of small cars seem to have problems driving through?

someone has a door bell chime camera and has doe acompilation of crash after crash. The gap is 7 ft

real god I am glad that isnt my street stuff
Just incompetence on the part of the drivers; some people have no idea of the width of their vehicle.
'drivers of small cars' or women as they used to be known.
if you can't get through a 7ft gap you should not be driving.
What idiot did that trust me i know about roads and 7 foot is way too thin for a lane let alone distance between two bollards oh my goodness
a 1976 caddy eldorado is only 80 inches wide! perlease!
Yes but how wide is your car sir
that would only give 1 inch of room either side assuming there isnt a curb lol
The point of it is to discourage wide vehicles from using the road. The point of road-humps is to discourage people from driving too fast. If drivers can't cope with that and then damage their wings or suspension then more fool them. Are they snowflakes?
They should go much slower so if they do hit the bollard they dont flip their whip
so they didn't do arithmetic in your school then! PMSL it's 2 inches each side, plenty, or you should not be driving.
Typical male thinks its bigger than it is i think lol
athiest there is a difference between discouraging the wide vehicle and making it impossible for them im not saying the council is in the wrong though it is what it is i guess
that was you me old china, I think it's smaller.
roadman, you don't discourage unless you make the gap too narrow for them.
Touche
Anyone in a car should be able to drive through a 7 foot gap. The fact that a Police van cannot is sadly not surprising.
Traffic islands are there primarily to protect pedestrians from bad drivers.
Instead of flimsy plastic signage , re-inforced concrete bollards would afford the public more protection and be a bigger deterrent to dangerous driving,
There are bollards approximately 30 metres from my house.
They are regularly hit, so that most of the time.they don’t exist. As soon as they are replaced, they are decimated again.
In wouldnt like them on my road personally i would be able to get through it but they would make me drive very slowly not that i usually speed
"...i would be able to get through it but they would make me drive very slowly..."

You see, you can work it out if you try.
