I had a call, which I didn't answer, on my mobile. Checking the number online, it's supposedly from SEE regarding smart meter installation. My energy supplier is SSE, and I've had cards in the post about when engineers are in the area. Are they likely to also phone? The comments...or should I say complaints regarding the number is that it's a scam, with many called 5 or 6 times in a day. This included several people who were with British Gas.

If you're concerned, ring SSE yourself -

I get text messages from British Gas about smart meters but not had any calls.

If in doubt, ignore the calls.

Your first link is where I checked. I know energy suppliers can be pretty persistent about selling their products but I didn't think they would phone. I've had other similar calls but different numbers.
Hi Pasta - I knew you'd checked, the link was really more to show anyone interested that you were right. As Corby says, I'd ignore them & block the number if you can.
I had a call from a company acting on behalf of my supplier.

The installer never turned up - but I think he did turn up by mistake at my neighbour whose house number was 10 higher than mine!
