Brexit bites again, The UK is short of four thousand Bus drivers who have quit their jobs to drive HGVs for loads more money.... Will this mean more food on supermarket shelves but you can't catch a bus or fill the tank up in your car to fetch it.?

you have to go through rigorous tests to become an HGV driver, i know because both brother in law and brother used to do it for a living,
How does needing to use a satnav affect the capability of an HGV driver?

On driving tests, four out of five drivers are tested on the ability to follow directions from a satnav so I cannot see the point you're making.
There was a story (apocryphal?) that a foreign driver supposed to be going to Gibraltar ended up at Gibraltar Point near Bridlington!
Needing a satnav isn't a barrier to becoming an HGV driver - some of them drive all over Europe.
You cannot drive an HGV on a bus drivers licence and you cannot drive a bus on an ordinary car drivers licence.
I also cannot help feeling that if people did not stockpile or waste so much there would not be any shortages.
^I think that's right. If people had been sensible we wouldn't have had a couple of days of disruption at the garages. Same with the toilet rolls and pasta last year. Someone here has 104 toilet rolls stashed..... in a household of two people. Ridiculous.
So right Naomi. During the first lockdown I tried to buy one packet of gluten free pasta and shelves of all pasta were empty. Usually they are quite well-stocked. This was true of other gluten free food including bread and biscuits. OH is a coeliac.

Thats the end of Boris and his infamous Bus then . He will have no one to drive it , and no Diesel to run it.
Hope it's an electric one or he'll not be able to drive it in London.

Can just imagine the message on the side of Boris's Bus . (today)
...We have lost 4.000 bus drivers,,, because of Brexit ..
......Lets take back control.......
Ever thought of going into advertising, Gully? You'd be a whizz!

Oops. :o)
Gulliver at 10.11, I taught " Saatchi & Saatchi"... their job, and I thought you hated the tories. They were the advertising agency so integrally associated with the Conservative Party that got Maggie into power and kept her there for three consecutive elections.
he is telling porkies as usual tsm.
gulliver is well named, just like his fictional namesake, he lives in a fantasy world.
My son is a bus driver - can safely carry passengers on long distance journeys as well as local but he is not licenced for an HGV without further training.
