Priti Patel, is to make plans for police protection for MPs when working with their contituency engagements in view of the murder of Tory MP.
Will she do the same if a Doctor , Nurse, Bus driver or anyone else who is in touch with Public is killed
Will it be for all Mps, or just Tory MPs ?.

Strewth.

do you have a link to the story you'd like to discuss?
most press outlets are reporting // The government is looking at ensuring every MP gets officers on guard at their surgeries - a move backed by Speaker Lindsay Hoyle. // - or something very similar.

so not just tory mps, not just cabinet ministers, not just members of the bullingdon club, etc etc
please don't I want to be sure that I am discussing the correct news item.
How would we know? Why don't you email her and ask her, gully?
Honestly Tora, your insistence that only Gully provides that link is bordering on pantomime now. You know it isn't going to happen, so why keep up the charade?
Do you have a better suggestion gulliver, are you saying there should be no protection?
Let's hope they are proper police guards as well, and not some raggy, two-bit 'security' firm.
The crux of the issue is that it's only MPs who have been targeted. Certainly at the present time, higher security is necessary, in case of copycat attacks.
mozz: "Honestly Tora, your insistence that only Gully provides that link is bordering on pantomime now. " - oh no it isn't!
"Oh yes it i..." No, I'm not playing ;-)

Of course not - don't be stupid!
Hi I'm new, just seen this. Do you think the officers will be vetted to a much higher standard than for the general public?????

Big problem here is it will take more bobbies of the beat and reduce the number of officers available, which will reduce the strength of the 20 ,000 extra bobbies Patel and Johnson promised ...but have yet to provide,
... and never will.
But have you got an answer to my 12:08 question or is it just another failed attempt at point scoring
Gulliver, //Figures show an extra 9,814 police officers have been recruited//
//The government is nearly half-way to delivering on its pledge to put 20,000 additional officers on the streets by 2023.//

Mps should provide and pay for their own protection .
They won't need a policeperson with them 24 hours a day gulliver, just some protection while in there surgery sessions or whatever there called- maybe 2 hours a week
