Jo Cox’s killing was deemed terrorism. Bu he wasn’t charged with any terrorism offence. There are other possibilities. Religous inspired is the favourite, but it might be one of the others. We will have to wait for th facts to be revealed.

1. A radicalised muslim inspired by IS affiliate.
2. A known criminal with previous convictions for drugs.
3. A mentally ill person.
4. Someone with a grudge.

A ‘potential’ motive is not confirmation.
Everyone first feared it was a terrorist attack. And rightly the Police are exploring that avenue of inquiry.
Over the next few hours/days we will see what evidence they find.
GROMIT, from the CPS website

"Schedule 2 of Counter-Terrorism Act 2008 contains a list of offences which a judge could conclude have 'a terrorist connection'. These include charges such as murder or causing an explosion. For example, the killings of Lee Rigby and Jo Cox MP were charged as murder but both amounted to a terrorism offence and those responsible for the 21/7 bombings were charged with conspiracy to cause explosions, which also amounted to terrorism offences. In all of these cases those convicted are considered terrorists, because even though they are covered by different legislation than the Terrorism Acts, the crimes committed clearly had terrorist aims."

But,so far, Islamic terrorist has not been confirmed.
Does it make a blind bit of difference, terrorist or otherwise? A man has been murdered.
Tommy Mair shouted “Britain First” as he attacked Jo Cox. Obviously political terrorism it was assumed after the incident.
Mair faced no terrorism charges.

Amess’ attacker is of Somali heritage, probably muslim, but the motive hasn’t yet been found/revealed.
Jack //Does it make a blind bit of difference,//
As with any murder the reason why is of interest.
GROMIT, my post explains why Jo Cox's murderer is a terrorist even though he was not charged with any specific terror-related offences.
Gromit/danny, The police have declared it to have been an act of terrorism. Of course he could have been acting on behalf of the cause of the Irish, or perhaps he is a Catalan independence fighter .... but I somehow doubt it.

Oh come on, webbo. It's only 'potential'. ;o)
Webbo, my apologies I somehow missed that.

Of course terrorism is a ‘potential’ motive. That was everyone’s first thought. That the Police are following that line of inquiry is reasonable. But until they find evidence and tell us, it is proof of nothing.
I am sure they are also looking at a potential mental health angle, but until his medical history throws up something, we cannot say the attacker was a nutter.
Gromit, you said the man who killed those people in Norway was a nutter without any evidence to support it. As long as murderers aren't confirmed to be Jihadists you seem to be happy. Of course you're not alone around here in that attitude but I can't fathom for the life of me why you embrace it. I personally think it's terribly disrespectful to the victims.
Why can’t we just be patient. A man has been murdered. Why/Who is details we will learn in time,. What’s the hurry? It’s mikes no difference to the dead man .
My post on the Danish attacker is here.

I said he was a nutter after evidence emerged that he was mentally ill. Friends saying he was a ticking time bomb etc.
I read your posts, Gromit - and the link you provided. Not a word about him being mentally ill.
//What’s the hurry? It’s mikes no difference to the dead man .//

If true terrorism the hurry might be whose next?

//Does it make a blind bit of difference, terrorist or otherwise?//

Yes, see above. Plus it should change greatly how we look to deal with things.
