William tells them they should Focus on fixing Earth instead of space
Prince William's comments come hours after billionaire Amazon tycoon sent Star Trek's William Shatner into space on his New Shepard rocket.
Do you agree with me that this is a ridiculous waste of recourses done under the pretence that these Billionaires are in some way benefiting science & humanity.

Well ,300 tons of CO2 released every time they fly up into space is not to be dismissed lightly. It stays around for a long time. William is right to be concerned. We all should.

yes (& no)!
Second in the queue to wear the big gold hat while sitting on a chair fashioned from the tears of colonialism tells other extremely wealthy people how to spend their own money then goes back to producing more children to exacerbate existing problems on the planet.
No. I think it's fantastic. I like Prince William - I think he's doing a great job - but I think he should stick to that.
Aye, saving the earth would be preferable to knowing things like how deep the crust around Uranus is

doug: How does wee George exacerbate existing problems on the planet?
I don't really know but I would like to think that Bezos & other extremely wealthy people also sponsor (i.e. finance) projects to improve lives on earth.

steg - please leave my anus out of this!
William and his father should get their own house in order before making comments about others .
The emissions from space passengers will only ever been miniscule compared with the totality of global travel emissions.
I agree with William.
As I recall, Khandro, you don't agree with space exploration at all, do you? Am I mistaken?
I absolutely agree with William too.

William is doing what a lot of famous people do - using their access to the listening world to offer any opinion.

That is always a two-edged sword.

In order to have reached a level whereby you have that level of contac, you have already created a situation where you are going to be vilified for your views, whatever they are.

A lot of famous people who are in that situation speak out on their personal views, clearly believing that the flak they get is worth their efforts to influence something that they feel is important.

Credibility in this situatio is everything.

Prince Harry has none whatsoever, mainly because he seriously over-estimates the importance of his views in the wider scheme of things, added to the hypocrisy of his lifestyle.

Prince William has a considerable amount, and is sensible enough to be careful how he uses it.
Andy have you had a sense of humour by-pass this morning? Zapping what was nothing more than a humorous, if slightly smutty remark about the Blue Origin, by a new user, will do nothing what-so-ever to keep fresh members on the site.
No.
The money they pay is not wasted

Members of the Royal Family may offer an opinion but when they start criticising other people they're treading a very fine line. If he's not careful he'll have people asking why his family aren't contributing their millions to the cause.
