could be affected by shortage of drivers to unload shipping containers - er what exactly is essential for Christmas that is not already available? Who needs a load of foreign tat just to give to someone who will stick it in the next raffle? Sooner they ban Christmas the better.

Oh no, don't ban Christmas, I like Christmas .....

I agree about the tat !
Its not just tat that is low on stock though its loads of other stuff too.
Christmas doesn't bother me that much since dad died.
We gave up Christmas some time ago. To me December is the worst month of the year. And I too agree about the tat.
I read about a woman who went out this week and bought two trolley loads of Christmas food. Seriously, it is one day - and if we have egg and chips, who cares? Not me.

My favourite meal! Although I have been known to take jam sandwiches and sit on the beach with the dogs.
We are not fans of christmas food anyway. Usually steak on Christmas day. son and wife go to the beach with their dog and picnic!
We have lovely Christmases - but if the turkey and whatever else isn't available we'll have something else - and we'll still have a lovely Christmas.
My wife insists on Turkey and pigs in blankets but even she, this year has said who cares.

And who does, it has got out of hand and if these planet savers want to do something really useful they should protest at the amount of plastic tat being bought in, much of which will probably be used once if at all and ends up in landfill.
We' re cutting down on gifts this year, no gifts between adults, only for the grandchildren. I never give 'foreign tat' as gifts, I always buy gifts for the grandchildren from small UK businesses usually from ETSY and they always love what I buy them.
Christmas? you mean adults going loony in the shops, like little kids. I think its really funny to watch them. :0)
Anyone know what is causing these Shortages in Great Britain ?
Where have all these essential workers gone to ?
........Bloody emigrants.....

I was very lucky this year as I got a £150 R&R voucher code from work which I redeemed for John Lewis vouchers. I used it to get Xmas hampers for my family and they arrived yesterday. Also sneaked in a lego treat for me :o)

Just going to get clothing for my nephew and Little Tigs and that's it.

I'm having the family round for Xmas day but not sure what get for food if I can't find turkey. Probably chicken or salmon.
Love everything about it ( getting tingly already)
Bah humbug
I know I’m in the minority Barry :0)
Lamb at Christmas for us, who wants tasteless turkey?
When my daughter and I have had Christmas together (her partner had always gone to Italy to see his family) we've almost never bothered with roast dinner. It's a huge spread of cold meats, seafood, good cheese, etc...and wine and prossecco. If I...hopefully...go to theirs this year, I know the food will be good and not a turkey to be seen!
You've been eating the wrong Turkey Dave, or cooking it wrong. :-)
Pasta, that sounds like Heaven to me, I love 'picky' food.
When I first moved here the turkey walked up to the house, wrapping paper was only available one week before, we found the tree on a walk. Pudding and cake were made in November, Brussels were in abundance.
Now the Chinese shops are full of tat all year round and Iceland is here
