What kind of sentence would these apes get?

There is something seriously wrong with some members of society who think this is fun and it is a widespread problem. Many years ago I was in a bar and a friend of mine had her drink spiked. We'd only been there a short time and had a couple of drinks but she started slurring her words and looked like she was drugged up. We had to take her to the lounge area which had been closed off. She was lucky we were all there to take care of her. If she'd been on her own who knows what would've happened.

i have had my drink spiked twice in my life, once was on holiday in Spain, by an incoming group of holidaymakers, i was so ill that i am surprised they let me on the plane, i was sick all the way home, the second was a pub i worked in, i was off duty and popped into pub on the way home and some of the customers and the manager of the pub thought it hilarious to spike my spritzer with vodka. I couldn't taste it to be honest, the after affects could have death, as i didn't realise that i was that drunk, it could have been fatal.
There are some very nasty people about. The link doesn't give much information - it's not clear whether anyone drank the spiked drink or was even meant to. It could have been staged just for a video, no harm caused to anyone, and the woman could have been in on it. Even so, a very stupid thing to do.

The maximum sentence for spiking a drink is 10 years prison
anyone doing it should go to prison, they could have killed the woman...
Another link from my local rag, the first one they are referred to as boys.

Not boys if they are 18, but men, name and shame them, lets see what their friends, family and employers think of them.

I would think it also depends on what the 'substance' is found to be. If it is discovered to be the date rape drug..................................
then the penalty should be severe ^
They shouldn't be named unless they are charged- at the earliest, webbo.
The penalty is severe - as I said, 10 years in prison. There are plenty of reports online of men being sentenced for this crime. Of course, if they go on to rape, assault or carry out any other offence because the victim is drugged then the penalty may be longer.
I think it is a good thing that the penalty is the same whatever the substance. A victim could be allergic to alcohol which could cause the airways to swell and obstruct breathing - there is no excuse for spiking and the penalty should be the same whether the victim had a reaction or not, or if she or he didn't even drink it.
Damn savages.........etc
Remember, this may not be the first time they have done this, just the first time they were caught.
^
Quite a chilling thought, Webbo :-(
I had my drink spiked decades ago by a friend of my then boyfriend. I was on valium and he thought it was funny to put vodka in my soft drink. I got my own back as I was sick all over him but it could have been much worse.
Life,no parol
Tigger, in a night out - the spiker is usually a member of the party. And yes it is intended as a tremendously funny joke. And since it is a joke they have to tell someone ....

first at 13, when my BROTHER thought it was a tremendously funny .... told my sister, it was so funny....

// She was lucky we were all there to take care of her. If she'd been on her own who knows what would've happened.//
not lucky.... there was someone there who knew what the cause was....
As a teenager, I was the only member of my social group who did not dtink alcohol.

As a 'joke', a couple of times someone did try to sneak something alcoholic into my bitter lemon, my drink of choice.

Since I could taste the difference instantly between Schewepps and Brtivic bitter lemon, there was never a ghost of a chance that i would not notice - I usually smelled the alcohol before getting near to tasting it.

It is done my some as a 'joke', but by others in order to incapacitate the victim for possible futture abuse.

Referring to the ongoing thread about women being 'streetwise' - it's interesting that this 'joke' or 'serious prelude to rape/murder' seems only to be carried out on women, by men, rather than the other way around.
Drink driving comes to mind. Imagine you had gone out socially and only intended to drink a couple of soft drinks and some clown spiked your drink. You then drive home, and get stopped by the plod and have to give a breathalyser test, its positive!! You wouldn´t have a leg to stand on, would you?
my daughter had this pulled on her in a Leeds bar - at 8pm in the evening and it turned out to be one of the barmen on duty - caught on CCTV and she had worked there, so it didn't take a genius to work out who was responsible for this. To the police and one barman without a job - whether he's serving behind other bars, I don't really care....
My (male) friend had his drink spiked in Bangkok 30 years ago. He worked for an Australian airline and was walking to a bar with a couple of girls from his crew. There was a kid outside who was begging so he gave him a couple of bhat. A man came and tried to take the money off the kid so my mate got hold of him and grabbed the money back and gave it back to the kid and told him to run away. The man must have been in league with the bar staff because my friend had his drink spiked and ended up in hospital in Bangkok. By the time he got back to Australia and had blood tests the evidence was long gone.
// You then drive home, and get stopped by the plod and have to give a breathalyser test, its positive!! You wouldn´t have a leg to stand on, would you?//

its been tried and I cant remember what the outcomes are
the defence depends on lack of intention to take alcohol
and of course it all depends if the mag or jury believe it ( one at least they did)
