What about folk buying fuel so they can get to work for the next week or so, are they idiots?
Or folk that live 15 miles from anywhere that need to buy fuel to get to work. Not everyone is an idiot queuing up for fuel, only those who think it will run out.
ADR is a specialist test for vehicles carrying dangerous or hazardous goods in bulk by road. ... for carrying dangerous goods in a container or portable tank or battery of pressure vessels of over 3,000 litres capacity.
RedHelen is right and there's a difference between driving a small diesel truck for home deliveries and a gasoline only or gasoline/diesel truck - largely the safety requirements - and then there's LPG and other similar gases - yet another 'dimension'.
ADR is "Accord Dangerous Routier, which roughly translates to European Agreement on the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road"
Speaking generally, the alarmed motorists are doing a me first decision. This I’ll be alright Jack attitude exacerbated an already tenuous situation. Space it and pace it would have made far more sense. But, since when has the general public used sense?
\\ But, since when has the general public used sense?//

At least they aren't as silly (yet) as some during the 1970's strike who, out looking for a station with fuel, spotted a tanker and followed it hoping to fill up at his intended stop. Unfortunately for them, yes, there was a convoy, the tanker was empty and returning to his depot. All they achieved was to waste more of their precious fuel.
Most of us don't need a car to get to work because most of us are retired. So, we're alright Jack and don't ever panic buy.
I can understand that those that do need to commute will be desperate to obtain as much fuel as possible.
Thank you to those that answered my ADR query.
My sisters stepson is ex army and explained to her why Army can stand in for HGV but not for fuel carriers....she couldnt remember why.
Thank you.
Nails, that answers my query about the Army stepping in. Thank you too.

No - they aren't the only ones who are panic buying but will probably suffer most. Keep calm & carry on. END OF!
There's a great clip of Rhod Gilbert on about 'Panic Buying' talking to Martin Bashire, on you tube I can't find it. but yeah bunch of selfish individuals.
And who do the BBC send out to investigate this morning?

You couldn't make it up - thanks Tonyav - off Facebook... https://www.ladbible.com/news/uk-bbc-sent-reporter-called-phil-mccann-to-cover-petrol-shortage-crisis-20210925

This is what I dont get!!!
Why is it selfish to want to get to work and earn a living?
Any time there is a shortage, people go into self preservation mode.
They want to get to work to provide for their families.,,,
Its natural, we look after our own.

Its the media that causes all this panic....
What some folk seem to believe is that anyone buying fuel, regardless of their reason is panic-buying.

That can not be the case for all since there must be a proportion of those folk who have to buy fuel, whether as part of their employment, to enable travel to work, care for someone or any number of pressing reasons.

Not everyone buying fuel is being selfish.
Just as with bog rolls - we had no (t)issue as we have our own manufacturers - it was our Ozzie friends who, for some bizarre reason, source their's from China. In truth, the Chinese probably needed a mountain to handle their own (Wuhan?) poop mountain......but what does the Daily Wail et al do but jump on the news-crapper.
Ahh come on cheer up, soon all vehicles will be electric and fuel panic buying will only be a thing of the history books. Lets enjoy the last few of them while we still can hey.
I walked past a long line of traffic waiting to get into a filling station and all had their engines running! Most were elderly people in their hatchbacks and beige windcheaters. I bet most never drive further than the nearest town.

Can't wait for the beer shortage to start next week.
I remember when there was a petrol shortage years ago (15 years?) and we (as essential workers) were allowed to jump the queue. Boy, did that upset some people. People in this country are even more selfish nowadays than they were then. Thank God for tfl
