I am invited to my niece's sort of afternoon tea next Saturday.

I haven't been to her house in about 3 years but she has done a lot of work outside- you know a big garden hill flattened, believe water feature, new wall and lights etc.

Anyway I know she doesn't want anything but I was wondering from you guys who can hear - does wind chimes get on your nerves, or is it nothing and can any wind chimes be nice cos that I was planning to get her - amongst other wee things of course.

Yep, wind chimes are annoying ( to me anyway ). They seem to carry on non stop.
They have been known to annoy close neighbours.
Wouldn't go for the "wind chimes" jj. A neighbour a few years back had a set in his garden, the noise from them could be so annoying.
What about a small sun dial as a present ?
Best to see her garden first so you know what she has. Gift certificate from a garden centre then she can get what she wants. I do have wind chimes, mainly wooden ones but no neighbours
Sun catchers are also nice but see what she has first
All depends whether she likes the JJ.
How about some solar powered lanterns?
Our neighbours at a previous house had some wind chimes.

I really hated them. (the chimes, that is)
I think wind chimes are like marmite, you either love them or hate them.
Somebody bought my next door neighbour some lovely wind chimes when she moved in, but she took them down because they got on her nerves!
One of my friends had wind chimes in her garden and she had to take them down because the neighbours kept complaining about them.

ok - glad I asked the question - won't be buying wind chimes then. I looked at the sun dial and it doesn't appeal to me either like I don't like how they look.

I'll think of something else. but thanks for the answer.

sorry - my mistake there - I was looking at sun dials but now see it is sun catchers - which what I've glanced there - some seem nice. maybe that's a better idea with no noise from them.
A bird bath jj? Some very attractive ones about.
