//A charity set up to continue the legacy of Winston Churchill has erased his first name and pictures of him from its website....A list of his achievements has been removed from the website, as well as a 1,400-word tribute that referenced a ‘much loved leader’ with a ‘bulldog spirit’.//

These numpties should be ashamed of themselves. Yet another organisation off my Christmas card list.

This wokeism is getting more and more ridiculous.
// set up to continue the legacy of Winston Churchill //
but don't mention his christian name . . . you couldn't make it up
He did have his darker side of course, earlier in his life.

Revisionism is an outrage and shoud be challenged head-on.
The Churchill Fellowship is a much better name than the
Winston Churchill Memorial Trust. They have called theirs awards, Churchill Fellowships since 1965, long before there was a fashion for blaming everything on woke.
There are plenty of historical books and websites that explain who Churchill was and his legacy. This organisation is dedicated to learning particularly from travel. That is what it is doing, not idolising the man.
a doughty opponent of votes for women too, and don't ask Australians what they think of his military strategies.
Good news - let’s learn about the man and not pander to those who want to silence those who seek the truth.
sp, I doubt most of us will live long enough to read all the woke bilge that is going to ensue (thank heavens).
True choux, but I hope the next generations are more willing to learn about the past - good and bad, rather than previous generations who didn’t have access to material which is now readily available.

When I was growing up all I knew about historical figures was the heavily edited versions.

Brilliant that the young are thinking for themselves.

Incidentally - wanting death as an alternative to learning about people having different opinions to you is a horrible state of being.

I genuinely hope you didn’t really mean that.

Are they or are they just being led by wokeists?
I have no issue with the name change - it works well enough.

However, it surely has to be possible to acknowledge that even the heroes of the past had their faults and within an organisation work to making sure we don't repeat them.

At the same time celebrating and continuing the good that they did.

I'm about to sound like the CEO of your fan club - but you always post the most thoughtful and level-headed responses to every thread I ever see you in.

Literally can't think of a better answer than your one at 13.59.

And with that - I take my leave.

I was a bit stunned to read that a Churchill scholarship was a way to tackle racism since Churchill was against Indian independence
( without India, England is nothing - Curzon actually)

First aerial photo of Baghdad? 1917 - taken whilst the British were bombing the crap out of the Iraqis - under Churchill's orders. (police bombing)

Italian campaign ( soft underbelly of Europe - oops) not a success

Gallipoli - largest POW camp in Europe

it wasnt all blood sweat and tears you know

going off gold standard 1931 - sentencing the country to 10 y recession
It's of no surprise.

If this woman really has a problem with Churchill why doesnt she make a stand and give up her 100K a year position?

I see they have now put his picture back up. The name change will happen but to be honest I think it is more catchy and it still has 'Churchill' in it.
ohhhhhhh yesssss!

that has Churchill in it too. I wonder if they'll be considering a name change? Bulldog Insurance maybe?

‘Cometh the hour, cometh the man’ - and he did.

yeah foo - outside the Churchill Pub Manchester - a passerby said - Oh Wayne - do your churchill impression

I expected - we will fight them on the beaches, we will never give up.... ( apparently they spent all their time in the tube 1940 doing churchill impressions and singing rollout red barrel...)

and got instead - -- oooohhhh yeeeeessss.

I am too old
Perlease!
I guess that when he supposedly made the ‘history will be kind to me for I intend to write it’ quote that is often attributed to him he did not have the foresight of knowing what 21st century snowflakery would abound
it's ironic that it is because of people like TGM that LibFac woke idiots like this have the freedom to disrespect him.
