I wonder how much help they will get and how many of their fellow countrymen will have the gumption to join them ?
I really hope they can be effective and rapidly increase their numbers

In a word - no
I very much doubt it. They may be secure in their own stronghold but once they venture outside they will be hunted down and destroyed by the Taliban.

They'll be slaughtered. They are brave, but it'll take a miracle for them to have any effect on the Taliban.
Maybe they should recruit some girl soldiers too.

The National Resistance Front had control of Kabul before being driven out by the Taliban in September 1996:

They should be able to hold their own valley but the taliban will be more interested in bombing us now.
no they won't be effective, just more dead bodies
It’s likely that the main armed resistance has not really organised yet
No. Afghanistan is finished.
that's what i think, no one wins there, the western world has to accept that.
The reason Afghanistan was invaded in the first place was the prevent it continuing to be a training ground for attacks against the west
It’s been repeated ad nausea but it’s worth repeating
Auto correct doesn’t do Latin …(!)
leave it well alone, its beyond saving, it just costs more lives in the long term.
I hope not.
We should stop interfering in Afghanistan. We should not send money and guns to arm one side or the other. Just because they are anti-Taliban does not mean they are good guys.
Leave Afghans to sort themselves out and not try to influence events by arming one side to the teeth.

Seriously, you think these people that are about to be slaughtered want to pamper to your PC tick boxes?

And just what exactly do you think The Taliban would do to women soldiers?

Unfortunately Stickybottle I cant see them doing much other than being a minor irritant to the Taliban.
Women recruits? Some people just don’t get it.
“I hope not.
We should stop interfering in Afghanistan”

What do you hope not?
The question was about internal resistance.
In fact as I posted above those fighters in the Panjshir valley are unlikely to be the main armed resistance. That is likely to come later and a civil war is likely to develop which will drag in neighbouring countries and eventually the west. Like it or not.
Mind you I can see the SAS getting involved long before that :-)
And other special forces. A lot more of that happens than is generally realised
We're damned if we do and we're damned if we don't. With the Taliban back on the scene, Britain is once again a massive target and Lord knows how many operatives have crossed the channel "seeking asylum".
The Taliban having captured a fantastic amount of weaponry & equipment, left behind by the Americans, - which should have been destroyed or rendered useless - are now for their size, one of the strongest armies in the world.
These guys in the mountains have only 'sticks & stones' by comparison, & pose no threat whatsoever.
they'll get slaughtered. There are no "good guys" in places like this. There are the bad guys and the worse guys, end of!
