Covid App Log Out?

I have just downloaded the NHS Covid app, not the pinging one, in case I go abroad. Should I log out of it or is it safe to stay logged in? Is an NHS Covid Passport Letter as good as the app as my husband doesn’t have a mobile phone? Sorry I have asked something similar before.

If you're using the app online, why not print both covid passports off??

I have Covid Passport Letters from the NHS which have been sent both to me and my husband to say we have both had both jabs, I also have the NHS app on my phone now. My husband doesn’t have a mobile and uses the same email address as me. I don’t have a printer. Is an NHS letter sufficient to go abroad or must we both have the NHS App? How if he doesn’t have a mobile phone?

Can I please have a simple answer to my questions as we are both elderly and this is going over the top of my head now ….
I have both as going to Spain soon - every time I open the App I have to log-in, so it looks like, certainly on my phone, that the App logs-out whenever I close it.

I’ve got both for fear that when I get to Spain for some reason I can’t log-in to the App.
have you asked the airline if your flying?
Some prefer paper but maybe not if they start being forged but I cant guarantee it
You don’t need the when you go: you need the international pass which you can request via the app and then print.
There are two passes: a general one and one for international travel which requires proof of identity.
I can’t stress enough: different countries have different entry requirements. Make sure you’ve got the right requirements for the place you’re travelling to.
The app for these passes is the general NHS one and nothing to do with the Covid test and trace one so you can safely leave it installed.
I don’t think you can forge the international travel ones. They have Q codes on them which presumably get processed if the receiving country can be bothered
I recall someone said on an earlier thread you can both have separate apps on the one phone?
I've a feeling all these replies arent helping.

I had a Q code on a parcel lable and it got destroyed by one drop of water so I'd keep a spare copy and maybe laminate it or keep in a plastic wallet.
The letter with the QR code is fine. Using the app just holds up the queue.
Of course you can have both apps on the one phone.
However, I think what someone pinged our was that different users can share the sane NHS app: you need to log in to it to get your details so if you have two users - say a couple - who only have one phone, each person can log in to it separately
Sorry I meant to say:
What someone POINTED OUT
I definitely agree with what The Chair says: use hard copies: if necessary print out several copies
^ I think when ichkeria said "pinged our" it should of said "pointed out"??
Sorry ichkeria, am too slow

Can I download the app for my husband if we both have the same email address ? This is all too confusing, what am I supposed to print ?? Without a printer? And what is the international pass ??? Getting more confusing by the minute. How do people ever manage to get on a plane ……

What is the NHS Covid Passport Letter for …. And should l log out of the app or stay logged in? I wish I could get an answer I understand. Do I need the blasted app at all if I have these letters??
As originally posted:
You don't need the app, just the documents. It sounds like you already have these.
If, however, you DO use the app then you could download other copies.
Does the code on your letter have an expiry date?
Question Author
Ichkeria, no expiry date on letters. So can I delete the app?? Thank you. Calming down now …
Keep the app just in case.
Might as well log out as you'll porbably have to relogin at some stage anyway- they often log out automatically. Just remember your password in case you need it- your phone may save it if you elect to save it.
Am sure someone said you and OH will need separate email addresses- easy to get another email addy
