What is your point? Are you trying to blame the government for something that was beyond their control? Your OP is totally misleading but that is par for the course with you.
“You couldn’t make it up”.

You have, so we don’t need to.
"Are you trying to blame the government for something that was beyond their control?"

"Analysis conducted by The Telegraph of the cheapest 19 test providers on the DHSC’s list found most were making misleading claims of prices from as low as £1.99 up to £19.99, but which were actually significantly higher when customers clicked through to their websites.

Those with the lowest prices push themselves to the top of the list.

The cheapest was Expert Doctors, offering tests from £1.99 when the actual cost for two tests was £155. One customer who reviewed the company on Trustpilot claimed to have paid £250 but got no results back. Another received just two out of six tests they ordered before turning to the NHS for substitute tests."

As the list was Government approved, that implies that each company was checked and the prices confirmed.

As they have control over which companies appear on their own list, why should the Government not be held to account for inaccuracies in the actual prices?
Social Services have (or had) lists of "approved care homes" I think it was before the CQC. What they approved was the standard of care and accommodation, nothing to do with the price. Its the same here. The quality and acceptability of the test providers is what is on the list.

Actually thinking about it, the CQC don't take any view on pricing either.
"Grant Shapps, the Transport Secretary, boasted on national radio that tests could be bought for under £2.50 from the Department of Health and Social Care’s (DHSC) list of approved test providers, as he claimed the Government was driving down costs for prospective holidaymakers."

"Only three of the test providers originally stated as under £20 had received positive feedback on the Trustpilot site."

Part of the new scheme was emphasising the low prices of the tests but that's been blown out the water and why are they recommending firms receiving poor feedback?

"
Information on prices

The prices shown are:

a guide - the final price you pay could be different to the displayed price
prices for the test provider’s standard service

Prices are updated periodically so there may be differences between the price listed on this page and the price on the provider’s website.

Prices may differ from provider to provider for a number of reasons, for example to reflect different levels of customer support. Contact providers for detailed product and pricing information. Some providers may offer a range of packages at different prices with further add-ons, such as premium delivery.

Some airlines and travel agents offer discounts on tests. Check with them as you cannot access their discounts from this service."

Get a grip. Do you even know what the word Yahoo means ?
When I looked, one of their 'articles' was about a dog that just stared at a wall.
I keep recommending the film, Idiocracy. Simple & essential, but too many don't get it. Scary, eh ?
