This was an HS2 issue and 18,000 voters didn’t turn out. The Tory candidate was also very woke and green. However, this should be a wake up call for Boris. There is a whole different country outside the Westminster Bubble and it is fed up with being lied to, fobbed off, and locked down. You can’t run a Democratic country by fear.

Getting his foot removed from his !!!!! .?
He's back in the doghouse.
Look at the historical record: By-elections have absolutely no worth as an indicator of future voting intentions. None. Nada.
Gulliver, for someone who has
no time for the Tories you spend an inordinate amount of your life talking about them. All day every day.
well Gully has to do SOMETHING to pass the time

why has no one recollected Lubbock's victory in 1962 ? (*)
rang the bell for a political change and there was

razor thin majority for Labour 1964

(*) cue crushing retorts from the usual suspects - who lubbock den, where orpington etc etc
Naomi, a bit like you and God! :-)
Nay - she IS a goddess !
You need to pay more attention atheist.
Ah, Naomi, I do like a woman with spirit!
I find most of them are better with a drink.
Zacs; you mean with a drink inside you or a drink inside them?
Generally, both.
My feeling about the Batley bye-election is that it may well depend on the effect the maverick Galloway has. He won't win, of course, but it is possible that he could take enough muslim votes from Labour to hand the Tories victory. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.
Trouble is, Zacs, that a drink inside them makes them lose their inhibition; a drink inside you makes you lose your exhibition.
Ha! Le brasseus pendure was never an issue for moi.

Had to laugh watching the leader of the Lib party Smashing down a blue brick wall with a massive sledge hammer. PMSL.
Zacs, check your spelling. And your grasp of French expressions! (mdr!)
Question Author
They should have put the caption "Yellow Brick Road
under it, very funny.
What I lack in French grammar i more than make up for in drinking prowess.
Question Author
Boris has decribed his party's stunning defeat at this byelection as "A bit peculiar", and blamed the Public for misunderstanding him and his Party.
