Perhaps if it hadn't been made entirely of two by two...

Definitely one of your better quips, Douglas!

I think most people in Ipswich (just down the road from me) were totally baffled by it from the start anyway!

How many cows were on the ark?
I’ve always been amazed how Noah, from the Middle East, managed to Koalas and Kangaroos on the boat.
Serves him right for allowing the woodpeckers on board.
The Maritime Inspectors were only allowed on in pairs.
The astonishing thing is, some people actually believe all this old pony. I worked with a woman once who actually believed in Adam and Eve, and she called Darwin “that evil man”.

These people walk amongst us.

Although I did find it hilarious that she was able to suspend her beliefs in order to have an affair with a guy at work.
There never was a real ark, - (though there probably appears to have been at one time a real cataclysmic flood.) It is, like most of the stories in the Old Testament a metaphor, Noah was saved & saved life by his belief, trust & determination against all odds; a lesson for us all there?
Oh dear ^^^
Khandro; why do you think that most stuff in the OT is metaphor? Why can't it be treated like everything else in life? If I say that Khandro is a ***, then why can't that be treated as my opinion, rather than somebody's view that it is a metaphor?
Because it’s true?
As Sheldon asked, what did they feed the lions?
And what happened to the woodworm?

Okay, the votes are in and Khandro wins the MAX plank award.
The whole “metaphor” argument is so absurd it’s laughable.
Lankeela - the unicorns, they used the unicorns.
Waaaaah!
Perhaps there was an Ark. But it only took what animals it could find and use locally at the time and place. Goats, cows, etc. Then over the centuries the historical fact became embellished and exaggerated to what we read about today?
Taking thousands of years-old stories at face value, failing to see any deeper meaning or lessons beneath the surface & then sneering at them in the hope that you appear to be smart, really is an activity for the simple-minded. But then as Peter P. would say; this is AnswerBank, what more would you expect?
Taking thousands of years-old stories as some sort of moral lesson (or indeed any other ‘teaching’) in the hope that you appear to be smart, really really is an activity for the simple-minded. But then as Peter P. would say; this is AnswerBank, ……….isn’t it, Khandro
The stories are old and some of the events are verifiable. But that does not mean they are absolute truth and certainly does prove they are the word of God.
They were stories preserved orally over many generations, so they changed slightly with each telling. So a local flood around the Mediterranean (which did happen) became a world flood (which didn’t).
The stories were used as a set of by-laws. You must do this, you mustn’t do that. A way to control society.
Taking a 2000 year old first written publication and applying them as rules for today is a mistake. Conditions change, problems change, people change so the rules become outdated and and miss more modern problems that need addressing.
You wouldn’t read the 1931 edition of the Highway Code to make you fit for a long motorway drive. And you shouldn’t read the Bible to become a model citizen today.
