A year ago I became online friends(like we all are) with an amazing woman. I stumbled upon a FB group she set up as she was desperately trying to feed her children with practically no money. The group was/is called HUNGRY TUMS ON A BUDGET. Well it just grew and grew - and before you know it she had 11k members! All helping each other with food ideas, recipes etc. Then someone said why not make it into a book?? So she did! It’s only a thin book but it was out on AMAZON yesterday, and she even put one of my photos on the cover! Am so so excited for her - nobody deserves it more. So if you want to take a peek the book is called HUNGRY TUMS ON A BUDGET THE BOOK. Very very proud online buddy!! X

Just ordered mine!!

What a mean comment - at least she’s trying to do something to earn a living!
How much did she have to pay to get it published?
Just looked on Amazon, unable to find the book......
Why on earth didn't she publish it in Kindle format?
Same here Sadie. You have to go to the FB page.
Smow, it's an honest comment, not a mean one. I have a Kindle library full of decent novels, and many cost just 99p.
And why are you taking offence for a pretend friend?
Found it!
Which is your photo Smow ?
I am genuinely interested to know how much it has cost her to publish this book
Ken, I have a Kindle full of excellent books from my local libraries - and they didn't cost me a penny :D
Some are cookbooks
Question Author
My photo is the egg cups lol. And I’m asking her what it cost right now....l
A lot of the recipes in that group have been copied from Slimming World, Jamie Oliver and other copyrighted cookbooks :(
Question Author
I give up, was just pleased for her as I know what an incredibly hard time she’s had.
can you really copyright a recipe?
Who "owns" the recipe for boiled eggs? if cr is a problem, surely all you have to do is put in an extra 1/4 tsp of salt and (or take it out) then is isnt?
bednobs, the recipes that give precise ingredients, methods and timings to create a dish of several different ingredients created by the author and published are copyrighted.
Smow, I'm not impressed because paying to publish a book isn't an indication of the book's merit. It's not the same as being paid by a publisher.
Copying recipes from a FB page isn't a huge effort.
ok so perhaps boiled eggs werent a good example. I have a book called "how to boil an egg" that has many simple receipes aimed at people leaving home for the first time(i hvent lived at home for nearly 30 years but still use it!). In that there is a recipe for cheese on toast. can you copyright that?
Is that Deliah Smith's book? It tells people how to cook basic food, not how to cook Deliah Smith created dishes
