There's only really one pro-independence party, and only really three anti-independence parties splitting that vote three ways. The pro-independence party lavishes the populace with gifts it can't afford, an out-and-out bribe, because once independence is achieved that party's work is done and it can leave others to deal with paying off the debt it's...

I would never agree with Galloway on anything, least of all anything he says.

The Remoaners said that Brexit would result in the break up of the Union and a return to violence in Northern Ireland.

Would you still say they were wrong?
'And it says regions that vote No should be allowed to remain in the UK if the country as a whole backs independence.'

Cuckoo!

Scottish politics descents further into farce.
High-jacking this thread somewhat - do the NI rioters really want to go back to a quasi civil war? Maybe they are to young to remember the worst of the troubles but make no mistake if it becomes overtly & violently sectarian rather than anti-PSNI the Republicans will have access to all the weapons they need.

as far as I can tell it's a load of hooded yobs filming themselves doing vandalism for facetube. Just round them up and use the boatloads of evidence on their twitface pages and sling em in the nick.
Tora,
// yobs filming themselves doing vandalism for facetube. //

Perhaps you have forgotten this warning on the 4th March 2021...

// A group which includes representatives of loyalist paramilitaries has written to the prime minister to withdraw its support for the Good Friday Agreement.
The Loyalist Communities Council (LCC) said it was temporarily withdrawing its backing because of concerns about the Northern Ireland Protocol.

The LCC represents groups including the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) and Ulster Defence Association (UDA) - loyalist paramilitary groups responsible for the murders of hundreds of people.

The protocol means NI remains in the EU single market for goods, so products from GB undergo EU import procedures.
Unionists say it damages trade and threatens NI's place in the UK.

He added that the prime minister should not "underestimate the strength of feeling on this issue right across the unionist family". //

I agree, Boris failed on that. We should have just gone WTO, hindesight has shown that we have gained nothing from a 'deal'.

Still, at present, it is nothing more than TTT has said. Whether or not it gets hijacked and escalated is another matter. The problems in NI never went away they were just waiting for an excuse. If it wasnt this then there would be another 'trigger'.
George has always been someone to take seriously....

well ok maybe not.
George Galloway is an ***.
So is Alex Salmond.
Exemptions for independence for certain areas?
Negotiated independence without a referendum?
Both barking mad.
As for NI, I’m afraid this is the consequence of Boris Johnson’s cavalier attitude to Brexit.
But there does have to be a border somewhere, once you have separate customs and different markets
The last time there were riots in NI a young girl got assassinated by the IRA thugs. So far no young females have been targeted this time.
Lyra McKee was a young woman, not girl, and was a talented journalist.
The Republican splinter group who killed her did not target her. She was stood next to a Police Armoured vehicle which was the target.

defending the IRA sunk? well standard lefty territory I suppose, Agent Cob would be proud. She may not have been the target but she was still ,murdered by IRA thugs.
In fairness to sunk, he was just correcting the facts. It’s always helpful to go by those I find.
The current violence will be a nasty shock to the Peace Wall tourists :-)
There's only really one pro-independence party, and only really three anti-independence parties splitting that vote three ways.

The pro-independence party lavishes the populace with gifts it can't afford, an out-and-out bribe, because once independence is achieved that party's work is done and it can leave others to deal with paying off the debt it's built up to achieve its prime objective.

The only Scottish politics I hear about is independence and, lately, the misdemeanours of pro-inedpendence Alex Salmond. Nothing about any other political issue.

So yes, separatism is a scourge as it dominates the agenda. Whether Galloway is the right person to deal with that scourge ... I think not.
I hold no brief for George Galloway, don't like him and disagree with nearly all his political views, but I don't think anyone could say that he is not a fearsome debater. Here's an example:

Same goes for Alex Salmond.
I was at school with Galloway and he was a total numpty back then. Nothing he has said or done since has made me change my mind.
Tora,
Defending UVF and UDA murdering scum. You should be ashamed.

err sunk, where have I done that?

elipsis: "The pro-independence party lavishes the populace with gifts it can't afford, an out-and-out bribe, because once independence is achieved that party's work is done and it can leave others to deal with paying off the debt it's built up to achieve its prime objective. " - exactly and well put, BA, in fact I feel a separate question comming on.....
Sounds very like UKIP!
