I just saw this on the news.
The accused “is charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by driving while uninsured, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, and failure to report a collision.”

I hope he gets a long sentence.

Heartbreaking.
Goodness knows how many more are driving around Birmingham without insurance, tax whatever just like him.Yes,I hope he gets a long sentence too.As the bereaved parents are only 18 they must be in a terrible state.
This happened around a two miles from me, Brownhills is not in Birmingham.
Since I seem to spend a large amount of my time on here arguing against the existence of God, I am delighted not to have to try - even to myself - to explain how any loving deity could allow suffering like this.

Tragedy seems an utterly inadequate word to describe what has gone on here.
grumpy, how many are driving like the way you describe within, say, five or ten kilometres of which rabbit hole you are living in? Never mind Brummyland and environs, most major towns and cities will have a number of plonkers like this idiot.
this is another thing in the new bill, increased sentences for causing death by death by dangerous driving or careless driving when under the influence of drink or drugs.

Just being a bereaved parent qualifies you for unimaginable agony - I don't think age comes into it.
It can honestly say that it has devastated the community, andy. I had to dive past the scene of the tragedy yesterday afternoon, I saw people laying flowers and grieving also the TV camera's filming it. When I say it was heartbreaking that is an understatement.
Quite agree Andy-Hughes the point I was trying to make was that being not much more than kids themselves it would be harder to come to terms with.Although I realise it would be dreadful for anyone.

I can imagine - though I wish I couldn't - how anyone near this senseless scene must be affected by it.

Indeed - the same conclusion I reached when I thought about your post, after posting mine, and just before I realised that my post looked somewhat pedantic and nit-picking, which I absolutely did not intend, and happily apologise if that is how it came across.
The parents were most likely at the most happy part of their life and now this. It is beyond sad and they may never get over it.

I think something like this is something you never ever get over.

I think you weave it into the fabric of your being so that it is part of you, hopefully a part that stops crushing you quite as badly over time, but it will never not be there.
Heartbreaking for 18 yr old parents taking their beautiful baby out for the first time ,words can’t describe what I feel for the person who did this to this innocent baby
It was a lovely sunny afternoon on Easter Sunday and apparently it was baby Ciarans first stroll out in his pram.

"I hope he gets a long sentence. " - he won't. Damn savage shold never see the light of day again.
Andy-Hughes,no offence meant I’m sure and certainly none taken by me.
Poor little mite. I can't begin to imagine the pain and heartache his family are going through.

Hope the driver goes away for a very long time.
How horrible. The poor parents. Poor child should not even have been in this world yet as he was prem., he'd have been safe if still in the womb.

Long sentences don't seem to matter, sadly, this sort of thing keeps happening. These stupid, wicked people are always with us. Life is a matter of chance. All we can do is sorrow.
Her won't get a long enough sentence, these morons who commit such crimes never do, such is our justice system. Seeing pictures of this little tot online actually made me cry, so young and innocent. I hope and pray it was quick for him. Such a waste.
