Why do they say "good evening if you are watching in the UK or around the world"? - where else could we be?

Some of the bulletins are broadcast to other countries via BBC World
available around the world
OK for truth and lack of bias
but I have stated watching France -24 on you tube ( live) as better european news
damn, you earthlings! you've twigged!
Aljazeera news for me.
The space station ?
I've watched BBC News 24 in lots of foreign holiday destinations, it's often one of the few English speaking channels available in holiday accommodation satellite TVs.
I usually find I can only get BBC World when on holiday, and it's very disappointing. It even has adverts.

Still thinking about this - just heard it again and realised what is grating on me - surely it should be 'whether' rather than 'if'? IE whether you are watching in the UK or around the world, not if you are watching in the UK or around the world! Slow day!
I too agree that the sentence should be "good evening, whether you are watching in the UK or around the world"

I watch France 24 (sky channel 512) to get proper news. In fact UK News coverage is a joke and should be re-named 'The Covid show'

You need to realise that comparing France 24 and BBC News 24 is not comparing like for like. The former is an international news channel the latter is domestic. BBC World would be the equivalent, but as noted its commercially funded and therefore not available in the UK.
France 24 probably still trumps BBC World though.
