I haven't been inside a bank for at least 8 years, probably more. I have Santander accounts and my branch is closing but I'm not bothered by it.
Our local TSB has shut recently, like many of the others. Luckily, the post office can take in cheques. But not cash- for that particular bank... We use online, but a lot of our clients don't.
Same here - shame about the people who will be losing their but we all have to adapt to changing circumstances.
They are not being used and are expensive to maintain.

So it is no surprise. Many more will follow.

How/where do you pay cheques in, barry?
I used to be with them but left after some difficulties. Ours is closing, which is a shame, because there wasn't ever a time it wasn't busy. Thanks for posting the link.
Our Barclays closed recently so there's not much left.
brainiac, I do it online, it is quick and easy
I haven't used a branch for years. Haven't used cash for ages. I'm getting old but we have to adapt.
Looks like mine is closing.
How do you pay cheques in online?
Not all people are comfortable with online banking, I'm not. Our five local banks all closed and so have our two building societies. I wasn't with Santander but now have to travel some distance by car to access services at my new building society. For some odd reason, I am not able to pay cheques into it via the PO either.
surprised there are still so many bank branches, what are they used for? I can't remember my last visit to a bank branch.
mwg, take the plunge into bet banking, it'll take a bit of getting into but believe me it's so much more efficient. You can now pay in cheques with your phone for example. Though TBF I haven't seen a cheque for years myself.

Have seen that before , Jim, but I don't have a mobile phone. Could I scan both sides of the cheque and scan it into my current account online?
Presumably, if you still have a cheque book, you also still have a pay-in book? If so, just fill the slip in, tear it out and put it in the post to your bank along with the cheque.
Several references to cheques. You can take a phone image now. But am wondering what all these cheques are as we havent had one for several years now.
Many banks allow you to pay in cheques at the post office but some need you to have on hand the bank's special deposit envelopes and slips.
You can also deposit cheques at some ATMs.
I just open the app on my phone, take a photo of the front and the (usually blank) back and it's done. Santander don't provide that facility in the UK but they do in the US and some other countries. I expect it will be available here soon-ish.

I don't get many cheques but some of my relatives send me cheques through the post for my birthday and some people still insist on paying me by cheque.
brainiac, I am fairly sure you have to use the app. Who do you bank with?
TTT, what is bet banking?
I'd gamble on it being a missprint of NET banking as N is next to B
