It's only a plea hearing. At least he has been remanded in custody.

But he is still charged with the crime
Yes but case will eventually end up in Crown Court or maybe at the Old Bailey.
This has a long way to go - let's hope that the pitchfork carriers on here remember the concept of innocent until proven guilty.
Yes, Webb, otherwise he'd have been released.
Even pitchfork carriers know that the polis don't arrest the polis unless they're sure it's a done deal.

My personal opinion is that there are mental health issues involved an he will send upnin a secure place like Broadmore. But it's only an opinion.
End up!
Sounds like he’s been running head first into his cell walls. Nut job.
What gets me is his wife being involved, all very strange.
is there a suggestion that his wife is actually involved? She'd naturally be questioned.
I think his wife was released. They would have arrested her because they would think she knew about it.

Agree with Barsel.

I should imagine they'll have him on round the clock suicide watch. Hope he doesn't succeed, that lovely young lady and her family deserve proper justice.
He won't want to go to a normal jail - if he can convince them he's nuts he'll get sent to Broadmoor (if found guilty of course!).
Perhaps his self-harm is an attempt to show them he's nuts. As a policeman he's likely to know all the tricks.
Agree with Andy's sentiments. Will wait to see how things pan out before jumping to conclusions. As Andy said, it still has a long way to go.
Nobody on this thread has jumped to conclusions Maggie. Just expressed thoughts which is natural.
Who's jumping to conclusions as far as I can see, abers are just giving an opinion on a thread !
