That's got to be a joke right? It was terrible way the man died, but I'm a bit tired about it turning into a race issue; the only person in the world who knows whether it was a race issue is Chauvin, and he's hardly likely to admit it. Who said he committed a crime? The must be some monitory value on someone being killed needlessly?
"The Minneapolis City Council voted unanimously to approve the pre-trial $27m settlement".

Perhaps by doing so they reduce the chance of paying more after the trial.

I don't know how it works.

he's a career criminal lowlife, the pregnant woman he knifed must be delighted. Still the FOCS are happy eh?

The thing that irritates the bejesus the most out of me though is the way Floyd has been pretty much deified; for Christs sake, did anybody see the funeral he had - there was a painting of him with angel wings. Even the most achingly right-on (and I know there's a few on AB) must accept he was no angel.

He absolutely didn't deserve to die the way he did, but to elevate him to a demi-god is just completely bananas.

interesting that they choose now, obviously virtue signalling pre trail, it's not even clear a crime has been committed.
Question Author
DD if only, should please FOCS.
Deskdiary, there are other ways of restraining someone if you have four officers available.
FOCS?
TTT - you should know better than that; we're not allowed to use the phrase 'virtue signalling' anymore, because it upsets the virtue signallers.
Which is why I said it was a terrible way to die TonyV.
B.A.to Deskdiary.
Yes Dd I agree with you, no matter what his criminal past was.
Maybe damage limitation in case Chauvin gets manslaughter or less, rather than murder.
$27million..........seems reasonable to me as loss of earnings from crime, had he lived.
TTT he is not benefitting from tis - he's dead.

This is not being awarded because of anything he did before he was killed.
Question Author
perhaps, sqad but no crime has been committed.
I think that Mr Floyd wouldn't have thought that crime paid. Would you be happy to die without trial?
Question Author
mamy: "his is not being awarded because of anything he did before he was killed. " - but why is it being awarded? why not wait for the outcome of the "trial" ? ...unless..?
Sqad i know you want now the answer, neither do I, but did crime rate lower significantly after his demise?
I'll have a go with Friends Of Criminal Scum.
