Keir Starmer says that his wife works in the NHS and is a key worker but never says what role she has in the NHS....it has been said that she is an Occupational Therapist which she is not, then that she works in Occupational Health (???) by qualification she is a solicitor but does anybody know what her actual NHS job is?

She gets out of the house to not listen to him.
Question Author
no but seriously does anybody know what her job is? Its never mentioned.
Personal life. Starmer married Victoria Alexander in 2007. She was previously a solicitor but now works in NHS occupational health.
Question Author
so what does a solicitor do in an Occupational Health department and why is that a key worker role?
Previously a solicitor.
According to the FT she works for the NHS as an occupational health therapist. Of course she may be using her maiden name
She isn’t working as a solicitor, she is a therapist.
Occupational health services will help keep your employees healthy and safe whilst in work and manage any risks in the workplace that are likely to give rise to work-related ill health.
my guess would be a management role with six figure salary

Paigntonian, there is nothing in the Tatler article about her current job. previously in many articles it has been said that she was an Occupational Therapist which is a protected title. I couldn't find her on the register so I contacted the Health Professions Council and shortly afterwards that was removed from the online articles and some of them replaced the word "Therapist" with "Health". Its also been suggested that she works in child advocacy but so far as I am aware, that is a legal and not an NHS role.
Internet searches all seem to say she is a solicitor. However it seems their kids have been at school throughout as she is an NHS keyworker. I assume therefore she is an NHS solicitor.
She is not listed in the SRA so is no longer a practicing solicitor
Here is what NHS OH provide:

Occupational health activities are likely to include:

ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations - and helping maintain a healthy workforce
offering pre-employment health assessments
preventing and removing health risks arising in the workplace and advising on ergonomic issues and workplace design
providing screening and surveillance services in the initial stages of ill health and developing solutions to keep staff with health issues at work
providing independent and professional diagnosis, prognosis and advice on staff unable to work due to long-term or short-term intermittent health problems, and organisational wide steps to reduce sickness absence
lifestyle, health promotion and wellbeing services increasing productivity and staff retention.

Lots of scope there
Question Author
"Occupational Health Therapist" does not exist. See my previous post about "Occupational Therapist"
Barsel I know what Occupational Health is.
Question Author
Chelle none of those are jobs that suggest a solicitor could/should do them
Woofgang, when you checked her out did you also check under her maiden name? A lot of married women use their maiden name in their professional roles
Woolf: Sorry, understand. You could be on to something. Try Labour Party website? Or try his constituency party. Say you're a student, studying politics.
Question Author
yes I did barry, I also contacted the HPC to ask if they were aware that she was being described as an Occupational Therapist in the media. Its what I did before I retired and use of the title is strictly controlled. They said they were not aware and would investigate. Shortly afterwards the internet articles in question were edited or removed. I just wonder why the big mystery....I mean its not a state secret or a huge invasion of privacy.
Why do you keep referring to her as a solicitor? She isn't anymore according to what you are saying? Isn't it possible that she retrained in whatever role she's now got?
