I am listening to a radio phone-in, subject being Boris Johnson maybe easing the lockdown today, the presenters is asking what listeners want.
Some people are so selfish and short sighted, one is complaining that its her Golden Wedding anniversary soon and she wants the lockdown eased so she can have a party, fair play to the presenter, she stated that the anniversary is only 'one day' and that they can celebrate at a later date!
Others are moaning about other trivial things .......... surely the health of millions must come first, there are many like me that think the lockdown should continue for a few more months, lets be 100% sure before we open things up, look what happened the last time!

Last time people hadn't been vaccinated. As long as things open up gradually we should be ok.
i don't think its going to be a free for all, suggest that it will be a gradual unrolling of lockdown. once more people have been vaccinated then perhaps we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
if people are being asked what they want, then I don't see any problem with people then stating what they want. It's completely immaterial what people "want" anyway. We get what we get and we don't get upset (as my 8 yr old would say)
Like it or not , it's not being selfish, people are getting Lockdown weary and want some normality in their lives although as far as a party goes, that could be arranged at another date
100%sure of what? The virus won't go away and if I was asked what I wanted for a radio prgramme I would tell them. I could be almost 100% it wouldn't happen though.
Lockdown is depressing for many people. Especially people who live alone.
i agree with that...
though i have had help for my recent down turn, thank heavens for 111 and for the crisis team.
Lockdown for few more months?

No thank you

Much as I see the need for it and can’t be bothered with the people who think it’s all unnecessary, it’s also harmful in itself so it should not be a day longer than needed.
I’m glad it’s not me having to judge that though
a few more months to wait, won't matter, as long as this vaccination programme goes full steam ahead, then i can be patient, as can most im sure.
Like bednobs said, they were being asked what they wanted and replied accordingly ! I still haven't celebrated a special birthday which unfortunately was cancelled because it was the same day as the first lockdown last March, was hoping to be celebrating it this March, but still can't and I'm sick to death of all this now ! If I'm selfish, according to some, so be it, I couldn't care less.
Boris will probably cock-up easing of lockdown.

All 40+ people will be vaccinated by May and he will say they can meet and go to the pub and cafes and restaurants.
He will make those under 40 and not vaccinated wait until September before normalcy can return.

we will see ^^
I would love to be able to have a haircut, don't know which looks worse, my hair or the kitchen mop!!
I was pondering the myth of lockdown just the other day, sitting in heavy traffic in Paisley.

Utter nonsense.
im with you BS, my daughter missed her birthday party with her friends last year, and will probably miss it again this year. Not that birthday parties are important or a given in the grand scheme of things, but to 8 year olds they are :)
Bednobs eight year olds are wonderful aren't they? I have a soon to be eight year old who comes out with the most old fashioned comments. i.e. after a short walk in the sunshine post covid " That's what life is all about!"
:)
What is selfish varies, those who want lockdown to continue, some of them may be very selfish because it's had little impact on them anyway. In fact I have every sympathy with the Golden Wedding woman, married 50 years, of course they want to celebrate on the day. It's also very selfish that 1000s have died without their family with them or not having seen them for months - what was that for? Oh yes, to protect the NHS. Most people are sick to death of these restrictions.
Wish or want lists are not meant to be sensible or in many cases something that can be realised.

People need hopes and dreams.
