I can't see what they personally have ever got out of their military appointments and patronages, so I imagine they're not too distressed.

As long as Baron Archer of Weston-super-Mare is still a peer of the realm, I can see no reason for Harry, who's not a former jailbird and has not perverted the course of British justice, to relinquish his title.

no idea khandro. Is anyone actually surprised? I mean I thought they had already done this. I do wish them well. I cannot imagine what it must be like to be "the spare" in a family. Becoming less needed as big bro's family grows but not allowed to pursue a proper military career. Then he marries and his wife gets pulled to pieces. I'd be wiping the dust off my feet as well.

I don't wish ill on either of them but without doubt one day Harry will deeply regret and be saddened by losing the military appointments (if he isn't already). I believe most who have served in the Armed Forces develop a sense of pride and belonging to an elite group that stays with them for life, that those of us who haven't will not understand nor appreciate. He will be gutted.

Sqad, I don't think he's being asked to return his medals. Simply that, since neither of them are working members of the royal family, they can no longer hold the Royal patronages and military appointments.
