I think I would fix it to the wall rather than to door frame.
You get a battery with it that you charge up like a mobile phone, mine only lasts about three weeks but the packaging claims it "could" last up tp 6 months.
We've just bought one it was excellent value at around £12. comes in two parts you plu on part into an electric socket anywhere in your home and stick the 'button' onto the doorframe -and the sticky stuff is very strong. It works a treat and much better than the previous one where we had to buy batteries about every three months.

Aren't Ring the ones with video built in?
Yes.
Ring is owned by Amazon.
Apparently, all the video is stored on Amazon’s servers, unencrypted.
Ring (with a capital R)...brand of video doorbell.
ring (without capital R)...a doorbell that rings (or plays a tune), which is what APG is on about.
My son got me one and he has screwed it onto the front door, you get a charger with it and a screwdriver for when you need to remove the battery to charge it.He put mine up christmas day fully charged and its now on 40% battery.
