Thank goodness he found out about the new rules before that happened, let's hope the solution they are working on comes together.
The source of the link says it all. Carry on, Project Fear.
I posted about this story elsewhere -- it's a consequence of rushing the new rules through, or possibly of various parties failing to understand them properly, and could (and should) have been fixed.

Apologies Jim, I didn't see that you had posted elsewhere. Thanks for the replies.
No need to apologise -- I posted it as a separate link in a thread, rather than as its own thing.
Stupid bureaurocracy.
I agree could and should have been fixed but from that article it reads as though he knew there might be a problem but went ahead and risked his money on the order anyway and tried to circumvent it ? Which is maybe a bit silly?
gawd elp us, use a bit of common.
has common sense been banned from the EUSSR too?

Well as a remainer a always thought there'd be a sting in the tail
We should have a pollen re-joining.
He should simply move them from Italy to the Republic of Ireland (both part of the EU). Then from the Republic to Northern Ireland (no border unless the EU decides there will be one - which they might do if they find they didn't order this year's bees early enough) and then from NI to to Canterbury (no restrictions on goods entering GB from NI). In fact, since NI remains in the EU's Single Market he should simply ship them from Italy to NI. Might as well use the "Northern Ireland Protocol" to his advantage even if the people of NI have been thrown to the wolves.
Mr Murfet should call their bluff and initiate the transaction with Italy. If the EUSSR do indeed burn 15 million bees there will be a World wide scream of anger and another nail in their coffin.

NJ I think that's what he tried to do to evade the new rules
Now, via Ireland, this is what they call a sting operation.....
Yes Woof, that is/was the plan - all in the link provided.
//NJ I think that's what he tried to do to evade the new rules//

But he wouldn't be evading any rules. He'd be complying with all of them. Unless, that is, the rules are simply made up to suit individual circumstances as they arise. As with the Covid restrictions, if the legislators want to prevent people doing something they need to legislate for it. No use them bleating "But that's not what we meant."

If the UK government wants to stop goods being moved from the EU into Great Britain they will have to either impose a hard border in Ireland or impose import controls on goods moving from Northern Ireland to the UK.
^^^ sorry,"...from Northern Ireland to GB."
Apparently he was told that imports should come FROM NI not THROUGH NI
Never have happened if they'd saved FlyBe
