Bobinwales @ 09:05 - No, I would not welcome riots!
I see the signs and interpret them.
Am I wrong?
I hope so.
But I don't!think so.
Even Saint Jo Biden admitted he/we can't change the course of the pandemic.
^After he was installed, naturally.

So vaccinnes arent going to help then?
What he said was that it’s going to get worse before it gets better.
All you can do is limit the impact and speed the end with vaccination.
The restrictions in foreign travel are a good example: they hopefully will restrict new variants and slow their speed of spread, but they wont stop them.
Bobinwales, there must be a point where society cracks open and begins to break down.
Is this it?
Combined with natural disasters, global economic collapse, wars a d terrorism etc etc?
Hope I'm wrong.
More pressure on the NHS, yes, but the more young people that are exposed to the virus, the sooner the herd-immunity will kick in which will be a boon to the country overall, is that not true?
We'er miles from herd immunity. People use the term without understanding it. Around 10% have had covid. Herd immunity needs somethink like 80%. We cant just wait for that!!
My local pub are doing a sunday dinner collection takeaway service where they come and put the meal in your boot. I can't see what difference it would make if you had driven 1 mile to get it or 120 miles (apart from the fact it'd be cold when you get back!)
I hate the term "snowflake". If you were expecting someone to provide you dinner and they didn't, it's hardly likely you'd have the ingrediants in for a sunday roast. And if you fancy one, why not just get someone else to cook it?

What these young 20-somethings appear not to consider is that the more contacts they have, the greater chance they have of picking up the virus and passing it on to older people/friends/relatives who then might meet an untimely end.

Bednobs - did it not occur to them to pop into a local supermarket for a ready meal or even have beans on toast instead?
Khandro @ 10:05 - ''Herd immunity,'' does that mean a massive cull of us oldies?
why? wouldn't they likely have more contacts in thr supermarket than driving for a takewawy?
If pubs are allowed to do delivery meals, then people can't be blamed for availing themselves of them.
I had had up to the eyebrows of making sure everyone in my house is fed for every meal every day.
perhaps it didn't occur to them to pop in somewhere local.
\\ History repeating itself//
When was the last time the UK was a police state?
1658?
bobbinwales .....a lot more than 10% have or have had covid ...more like 1 in 3 people was reported lately. (admittedly many of them with no symptoms)
got a link for that one third please Roslyn? One of the scientists said something like 10% (was 5% a few months ago) but maybe he got it wrong
none whatsoever , I only saw this morning a friend of mine who has a down syndrom child say she regrets now bending the rules as three in the household have now tested positve !
Your right that its more than 10% now. My figure was from before Christmas. Test and trace shows only 4% but the Guardian estimates the true figure is one in five now https://www.theguardian.com/world/ng-interactive/2021/jan/10/one-in-five-have-had-coronavirus-in-england-new-modelling-says
Still miles from herd immunity
