Maybe they'll grow up to be less narrow minded that most the folk on AB.
Children ask questions about what they see and hear around them, far better to answer those questions as best one can rather than tell them to hush.

Regarding whether parents thinks this or similar programmes are suitable during home schooling, check what's coming on the channel you're viewing.
Hopefully 9 year olds are not reading the Daily Mail or the AnswerBank for their knowledge.

But not many 9 year olds are watching this. It is really aimed at older children. It is knowledge. Not very useful to me as a fifty something year old, but probably useful to a young person having to negotiate the next 30 years of their life.
LOL, I'd have loved to have seem some of my primary school teachers ( cope with ) answer some of those questions, Mamya. But there again back then we were either a boy or a girl.
Those answering the children will have had to do their research and of course it won't have been exhaustive Tony, but I think sometimes because we could never think of it happening back then it scares us a little.

Probably, Mamya.
My kids were all aware of the idea that some people don’t identify as the gender they were born as before they left primary. Can’t remember how it happened but they’ve all got the same view which is they’re not bothered. My eldest daughter has a new member of her friendship group who identifies as non binary (sometime they are gender fluid) and the only issue is remembering to use the correct pronoun (it doesn’t come naturally).
43 years ago I remember a biology class which was really a sex education class. It was a boys school. We were encouraged to asked questions and one boy who had obviously researched this beforehand asked all the questions.

What is an homo?
What is a Lesbian?
What is a bisexual?
What is a transvestite?
What is a haemophiliac?
What is a sadist?
What is a masochist?

We were told the answers and it was very illuminating for a 14 year old.

I guess these days, there would be quite a few more questions.
Well, I really can't imagine any normal nine year old asking those questios, did you notice that they had a piece of paper with them probably with the questions on the them, to which the adult responded: "Well, that's a really, really exciting question to ask...". What a set-up.
When I was at junior school I asked my mother why a man in the shop was wearing a dress and she said, 'Because he wants to.' That was good enough for me
I'd struggle to name more than a handfull. But your confusing sex and gender Fender ( am a poet!).
Give it time to evolve. There'r'll probably be thirty two billion genders by this time next year. After all some careers depend on peddling the rubbish they make up to those gullible enough to see the emperor's new clothes.
You think the idea that there are more than two genders is made up, OG?
It’s much better to teach children about this at an early age as they will just accept it before some narrow minded old farts prejudice them.
Live like you want to live, be what you want to be.

People will eventually swallow any old rubbish if it's said often enough.

......what was I just saying....
how can there be 100 genders? gawd elp us! If we must pebble this BS at least wait until they are old enough.
barry: "When I was at junior school I asked my mother why a man in the shop was wearing a dress and she said, 'Because he wants to.' That was good enough for me " - I think even in these radio rental times a transvestite isn't a "gender" just a geezer that likes wearing women's clothes, like Clinger in Mash.
