There was no point in leaving if we are to slavishly continue to follow EU legislation.

However, as derek says, lots of "ifs" "buts" and "maybes". That said, if people don't like any of the conditions under which they are employed they are always free to take their services elsewhere.
I`m guessing a lot of people will want more hours when this covid thing goes away.
Protecting workers' rights shouldn't be an EU/non-EU issue. It should just be automatic.
Indeed Jim. But each country should be free to choose how it protects them and to what degree.

I would much rather have leaders who have my rights/interests foremost in their thoughts – which is why I voted to remain.

If you don’t like your rights (given by EU legislation) taken away – as NJ says, hard luck; the country voted leave.
the EUSSR is essentially a socialist operation, we are not. one of many reasons why we left is because we need to control our own nation.
"I would much rather have leaders who have my rights/interests foremost in their thoughts – which is why I voted to remain. " - err so you wanted our rights and interests to be controlled by unelected foreigners? very logical Mr Spock!
Fake News.
I've always felt it an infringement on my liberty restricting how much I can work, rather than a protection.
Fact is, people who would have been better off remaining were persuaded to vote leave by people who will make a mint from leaving. That much should have been obvious beforehand. I politely described it in terms of turkeys, votes and Christmas.
^^^^ while the "smart" ones voted for subjugation in a pseudo communist superstate? right oh!

If you want – you can elect to opt out of the 48 hour working week limit – I’d rather not be forced to work all hours God gives; but I might soon lose that right.
"I’d rather not be forced to work all hours God gives; but I might soon lose that right. " - you cannot be forced to work. where do you lefties get this t1sh?
TGT, Why don't you change your name to " John Bull.
who indeed
what did you expect for chrissakes?
christmas everyday?

we already had Cameron and his great Bill of British Liberties which wd repeal the Human Rights Act - beloved of TTT - and replace them with Great Big British Liberties but FEWER of them
oh dear
> while the "smart" ones voted for subjugation in a pseudo communist superstate? right oh!

Did I say that the people who were persuaded to vote against their better interests were dumb? No. Is that what you're saying?
ellipsis: "Did I say that the people who were persuaded to vote against their better interests were dumb? " - how have you determined what are their "better interests"?

These unelected foreigners have consistently passed legislation that provides protection for me through EU Directives. Virtually all EU Directives have the interest of EU citizens as their basis, and not the interest of big business.

No British MP has ever expressed any genuine interest in my wellbeing/interests – they are only interested in keeping their snouts in the trough (including bungs from big business).

How many EU Commissioners are in the pay of big business?
