its certainly tone deaf
Tell the FULL strory,Hopkirk.
"He stressed that he did not believe footballers should be put in front and take priority over key workers, the vulnerable and the elderly - but believes that when the time is right, vaccinating footballers would be a chance to save money on testing, while continuing the football fixtures." He suggests that the money that could be saved on endless testing could be diverted to the NHS to be used for a better cause.
Thanks Ken. That puts a diffrent complexion on it
Thanks,Ken,mustn't of suited Hopkirk's agenda.
Thanks, Ken - always good to get a fuller picture...

So what is he saying then? Do them at the same time as other 20 to 30 year old fit people?
Why say it then?
He's just saying the sooner the better as it'll save money on all the twice weekly testing??
Question Author
Apparently his words were that footballers should be fast tracked to get the vaccine.

What makes them so important that they should in any way jump the queue?
It might help if they stopped hugging each other so much.
Hopkirk, what Sean Dyche said was exactly what i posted. You no doubt saw a headline and ran with that. "When the time is right" does not equate to being 'fast-tracked'. Footballers and backroom staff are tested on a twice weekly basis which must cost quite a few bob. Makes sense to think of an alternative method which would save that few bob and use it elsewhere in the NHS. In my most humble opinion, of course.
Question Author
Ken, Sean Dyche did use the phrase "fast track"
Hopkirk, i've just read a fuller account of what he said and i concede he does mention the phrase 'fast-track'. However, he first states that he is not for one moment suggesting footballers should jump the queue ahead of the elderly, vulnerable, key workers, etc, but that when the time is right, "if there is a window to fast-track through football, to get it back to being fully competitive, on an even playing field..."
The catchy headline in some reports - "Footballer's vaccinations should be fast-tracked, says Burnley's Sean Dyche" - is intended to be inflammatory but is also misleading.
so long as the Villa players are 'fast tracked' first
Ken, I think Hopkirk has fully made up his mind and will run withvthis one whatever was or wasn't said.
