Approximately 1,000 cases of a new variant of Covid 19 has been identified which is reported to transmit faster than the present one.
Mutation in simple terms and is not known if the vaccine will be effective against it.

like we have learned to live with the flu, how many does that kill per year, thousands i suspect.
As it points out in that report, viruses mutate all the time.
One can’t know for sure but there’s nothing to say the vaccine won’t still work against it
I don`t agree that the majority of the population are putting two fingers up to Government regulations. From what I have seen people are largely following the rules. I see very few people in shops without masks, I haven`t seen or heard any parties going on around here and all the restaurants and take away bars I have visited have been following the covid rules.
237SJ, I agree, That's my experience too.
The common cold has about 200 mutations which is why there is no vaccine. Flu has a lot less which is why there is a vaccine. We will just have to hope that Covid mutates like flu and not the common cold.
i have seen both sides of the coin, some with masks some without.
i wear one but there are those that won;t
Where are you talking about emmie, shops, restaurants or on the street?
I don’t know of anyone who has abided by the rules 100%, including myself.
I don't go out to observe , been in since we were told we're in Tier 3, before that I've seen a small percentage of maskless people, one I know refuses point blank to wear one, personally I can not see they've helped at all now
some shops like primark won't let you in without a mask, same as some others but many people take them off when coming out. Going for a coffee means having to remove it. same with eating in a restaurant. Waitrose our local supermarker many of the staff don;t wear them, and some of the customers haven't worn one either.

Arrods me neither.
The only thing we know for sure is that mutations in the virus result in consistant feelings of power in politicians causing them to persist with ineffective reactions and double down on misery for all.

Gross over reaction early on has left them with nowhere to go but to the same old repeat of lock 'em up then let 'em loose.

Oddly, outcomes remain exactly the same every time.
Bobbi, the person i know who point blank refused to wear one is 88 and hasn't understood the dangers.
emmie - people aren't obliged to wear them in the street so they are perfectly entitled to remove their masks when they leave Primark or any other shop. They are not obliged to wear them at a table whilst eating either - only when walking into and out of a food establishment.
A neighbour of ours has more bubbles than at the start of every West Ham home game. :-)
it just seems as though no matter how many restrictions you put down, wear a mask fine, wash hands fine, gel and so forth this is still going to spread. what do we do about visitors to our cities, London gets its fair share, maybe they don't know the severity of the virus.
people on Ab seem as though they want to do the right thing, fine
but that's not to say many will adhere to the guidelines set out.
Good to see you Emmie. Hope you’re OK. I have had too many lie-ins for GMEB!!!
The large shopping malls require you wear a mask at all times, in or out of the shops, there's notices asking shoppers to observe this
I'm sure even people outside of London have heard the stories, emmie.
