I went to Uni of Essex and they had a Paternoster lift in the library. Was the height of modernity at the time, the braver students would stay in it and come down the other side.
They had one in the London Hospital staff and student residence. I understand they are still popular in hotels used by very observant Jews so that they can keep Sabbath.
// they had a Paternoster lift in the library.//
yeah someone got sucked in and killed in Newc

( you didnt come out up side down)

and that was amen to the paternoster lifts ( or not)
I've put myself on the exclusion list. Is there one of them? I will definitely not be having a vaccination. No suree!
From the current Essex website
"This year we're refurbishing our iconic paternoster lift, with the aim of bringing it back into service for the start of academic year 2020/21. The lift will be fully restored with some added new safety features.

The paternoster has been an important part of our library since it first opened in 1967. It is one of just two lifts like it which are now left in the UK, so we’ve been planning the best way to make sure it can remain open and accessible for visitors to the Albert Sloman Library. It has been out of action since summer 2018, and work has been ongoing behind the scenes to organise resources and expertise to get it working again"

Great! that moves the rest if us up the queue
From the OP one could be forgiven for thinking that, due to the incredible efforts of dear Nicola, Scotland is enjoying special privilege - but it isn't.
Naomi that is what i thought, and was kicked for saying so.
still its here and one should be thankful for that
If they want to kick, let them kick, emmie. Scotland isn't enjoying special privilege.
no it would seem not.
Lol, it what she said to the Scots in her daily briefing, do you think she should have kept it a secret from us?
Not at all, steg, but you'd have got the same news from national briefings.
Just lol
I know what you mean, steg. I laughed too. :o)
interestingly the EU are adopting a cross-community approach to the vaccine under the EMA, with squabbles arising as 27 participants vie for priority. wonder if an independent Scotland with EU membership would be afforded any special treatment?
perhaps not Mushroom...

Why would wonder that?
Are you saying we are getting special treatment?
I don’t think we are
It's great news... the sooner it gets rolled out, the better. Does anyone know how long it is estimated to take to vaccinate everyone who is having it?
