Bobbi, they say they're Covid-free https://www.itv.com/news/2020-09-01/wuhan-celebrations-as-the-city-becomes-covid-free-but-blame-hangs-heavy-in-the-air I've no idea how true this is but China does seem to have got on top of it after a slow start; they claim to have had only 8 new cases the otehr day.

unlikely Bobbi....
Literally dozens of her fellow countrymen watching and filming, yet a Brit in his 60’s was the only one with the nads to jump in after her.

Poor show.
good man, but where were the others......
It was bizarre... can't the Chinese swim?

The reporting was ott...
Heroic?
fast-moving river?

Not from what I saw....a rescue in slow-motion.
Regardless, well done Stephen Ellison.
Well done him!

"many have debated whether China has a "morality" issue"

Is that even in doubt??!!
this is how Dirty Harry does it:

yes they are covid free

//Literally dozens of her fellow countrymen watching and filming,// ask your colleagues at work chilldo- apparently there is a group reflex ( er that you ask your colleagues about) in a highly social and homogenised society that no one steps out of line
here (no one) strips off into panties and dives in

they just stand and watch - occurred in Holland 1995 when someone drowned in a gracht and the Dutch all stood and watched. Then there was national heart searching of 'why did we just stand by and do narfin'?" Big on " someone else will soon do something so I will just go on standing and gawking"

ProConsul Ellison is a tri athlete apparently but not many chinese swim. (*)

I read on AB somewhere that not many could
it's an old story, PP

thanks jno

I shdnt say it but - - I did first aid to a fainter in the ROyal Oak faulkner st where no one did a damn thing 1985 and of course saved her life. (odd, the hand to nose reflex was always negative - the hand always missed the nose when dropped.)
so I was a hero and went back for my free pint

and the land leddy said - oh she is a fainter - she always does a performance when there is someone new like - - you! and the rest just stood and watched that week;s turn.

Confucious say,Wise man take wisk assessment first, consult health and Safety red book and take rong time bout rit then Blitish juhnny jump in. Ploblem solved.

Well done Mr Ellison. Obviously we can still show em life is not cheap.

Did the same thing to an old lady who collapsed coming out the The Lord High Admiral one winter in Church Street Paddington. She was gasping for breath and then collapsed in front of me and stopped breathing. Her old man said,'I fink she's gawn officer'.
My colleague and I threw our greatcoats in the snow and lept into action. PC Hurst and I gave CPR for about an hour. The ambulance station was 3 mins walk around the corner in Lyons Place.
She started breathing and then stopped. Eventually the ambulance arrived and sent off to St Mary's Paddington. Our cunning, sneaky D.O. had been watching round the corner but didn't come and give us a hand. He went round later to the Casualty Officer to ask for a statement as he was going to nominate us for a Royal Humane Society award. The C,O. was not amused, 'Oh blimey Mr Inspector sir ,those bloody cowboys of yours nearly killed the dear woman. She was asthmatic, forgotten her steroid inhaler and was hyperventilating, She now has multiple broken ribs and didn't need CPR in anycase. She would of started breathing on her own once her Oxygeg/nitrogen had levelled out.'

Ooooo er. They forgot to tell us about that when we were making love to Resusi -Anne back in the classroom and we never got our Inhumane Society award either.!!
Retro, if it's "wisk" then surely it must be "wed". Just sayin' :-)
Quite wite, Thanks.
