// Dozens of countries secured hundreds of millions of doses of the US Moderna Coronavirus vaccine in deals going back to the summer but the UK put its first order in only YESTERDAY — with none due to arrive before spring. //

What the hell has Kate Bingham, Chair of the UK Vaccine Taskforce been doing for the last 8 months?

what a stupid remark - we only have 100 mln booked for the Oxford vaaccine plus 30 mln of the Pfizer.
Why don't you do some reserch before posting inane comments?
It's always a gamble, which horse to put your money on,decisions were probably made on the likelihood of companies or institutions bringing a successful vaccine to release. Logic says it you need to commit funding early you go with the ones most likely to have early success combined with the ability to achieve massive production targets. Anything secured from this vaccine producer will be a bonus.
// what a foo remark - we only have 100 m doses booked for the Oxford vaccine plus 30 m doses of the Pfizer.// proof read for gtr clarity

yes disgusting - like Lady Dyed - I cd have sat on my bottom knitting and doing nothing ( besides purling and plaining) AND drawing a mega-whack ( of moolah stupid!)

I imagine they had a "likely to succeed" list or "likely to get there first"
and Oxford was high and moderna wasnt

I mean it is an economic decision based on opinion
and if you can do it you make a lodda moolah on the stock market
and if you cant you hed up a ctee .....

So what is your suggestion: Purchasing all the vaccines? I am sure that would go down well on the World stage.

// The head of the Oxford University group developing one of the leading Covid vaccine contenders has played down the chances of vaccinating people by Christmas.
Kate Bingham said we will end up with 100 million doses that we’ve secured from AstraZeneca in the first half of next year. //

So we might get our vaccine anytime between January and June. Last to Lockdown, Last to get a working trace &Trace app, and now a possible 8 month wait for our world beating vaccine.
have you ever considered leaving GB sunk? you obviously hate it here.
