Douglas - // "Mr Singh, who lived in Dagenham at the time of the attack, is an Indian national and an overstayer, who was served with a notice to leave in May 2015." //

I missed that with careless skimming, and stand corrected, with apologies.
My link was for JD.
shoota
Was the knife part of his religious paraphernalia?
That may have been his defence
____________

I think this case proves that the nonsense of carrying religious paraphernalia that allows you to snuff out 3 men in 13 seconds needs to be stopped, Shoota.

Good for Mr Singh, give him a Knighthood Boris.
Oops , not possible , working class.
Fender, seeing as you seem to be the only.person bringing race into this incident, what do you think?
Andie I am fine thank you
Naomi was praising my observation which since I am now almost one eyed I thought most generous.
You may only carry a Kirpan (which can be of any size) if you are a baptised Sikh.
Most carry a token miniature, some carry sizeable swords...
Thank you for the link, Mamya, I now have the full story. It's a bit confusing when every Sikh male has the surname Singh.
religious paraphernalia that allows you to snuff out 3 men in 13 seconds

or that allows you to fight back against armed gangs.
Kenneth Noye stabbed and killed a policeman
and walked free
( altho I admit that he tried it again and er didnt)

Curtis Warren stabbed a Turk in prison ( Dutch actually ) and successfully pleaded self defence and that there had been a contract out for him
Jackie - singh is an honorific like Mr
and those scribbling brits in the Indian civil service didnt get it
or that allows you to fight back against armed gangs.

Ridiculous.
Either no one should be allowed or everyone.
// Singh is an honorific like Mr\\
I call the owner of my corner shop Mr Singh. Is that tautology?
I agree that none of them should have been carrying weapons, however when three set out to attack another the likelihood is they would go prepared.

It's certainly a bizarre case.
Probably a good job that he was carrying a knife - for whatever reason. Otherwise it would be him lying on a slab in the morgue.
Singh can be used as a middle name or as a surname and it's mainly used by Sikhs although others also use it.

I read that for about ten years, folk with the surnames "Singh" or "Kaur" were telt by Canadian immigration they had to change their surnames. It seems there were too many with those surnames wanting to emigrate to Canada.

? ^
I believe Singh means 'lion' and Kaur is the female equivalent.
He meant 'told'

I don't know why he doesn't spell it correctly. I don't type Irish.
