AH, //i think the link is in the nature of the Eastern male as a rule - very structured and keen to belong to something, coupled with a fierce temper and a belief that defending culture and religion is the most important thing - above life itself.//
For that to be in any way valid we would need to see similar behaviour on a similar scale from men of other Eastern religions - but we don’t. Wherever in the world these acts of terrorism are perpetrated the culprits are overwhelmingly Muslim. I added ‘overwhelmingly’ there because had I said ‘always’ there’s a likelihood that some bright spark might try to argue the point and that’s such a waste of time. Whilst it might be difficult for some to concede that Islam is the common denominator in all of this, the fact is it is. Attempting to find other reasons for the horror that’s being imposed upon this world by the followers of this barbaric religion doesn’t change that.
PP. //he was an 18-year-old man of Chechen origin who was born in Moscow.//
Be it the Chechnya, the USA, Morocco, Australia, Timbuktu or Birmingham, his place of birth is irrelevant. Islam is one.
