We have a population of 67 million. Is there not room for an extra 400 (if, of course, they are genuinely displaced people, not just here for the money)
Well, that'll be another hotel filled.
And another 400 plus those missed, and another 400 plus those missed, and another 400 plus those missed, and another 400 plus those missed, and another 400 plus those missed, and ...

It is insane to let folk waltz in and grab a portion of what we've achieved. None are in need of a placement, they are already safe.
Vote Brexit , Lets take back control of our Borders. Britannia rules the waves. But not the Channel it seems.
It will end about 2 weeks after we start attaching tow lines to the boats and towing them back to France, letting the people get off and then towing the boats away. If anyone wants to jump off then pick them up and carry them back to France before decanting them. Well, you asked!

No.

What, displaced from Northern France, you mean?

I think I can save the taxpayer some money. Abolish the quaintly named "Border Force" (I wonder where they got that name from?). Instead, charter a cross channel ferry and just provide a free passage to anyone from Northern France who wants to get to the UK. One a day should do to start with but more may be needed as word gets round. Much easier, safer and more convenient than having to set out in a rubber boat to be "intercepted" (i.e. picked up) by "Border Force" vessels once in UK waters. A bit of funding for the free trips could be provided by UK citizens fleeing the country; they could be charged premium rates for the return trip to avoid it returning empty. The last UK citizen to leave by this method could turn off the lights and leave the country to the newcomers.
21.37 Jourdain , Spot on.
For once I pretty much agree with you, gulliver. Good to see you coming up with a view that differs from the Labour view on this issue
Those economic migrants sure do know a soft touch when they see it.I suppose us Brits are largely to blame. When you get Brits like Banksy openly advocating the whole-scale migration from Africa to Europe,no wonder they all want to come to Britain. But Banksy will be the last one to take these people into his mansions. It will be us working-class mugs who have to house them and live next door to them.
Let us not forget ,Boris himself is an Immigrant.
And so are you, gulliver on the island or in the land in which you now live.
I don't think Boris came across illegally on a dinghy without any papers
Britannia rules the waves ?
It time Britannia waived the rules, and floated them back.
Doubt if he claimed any benefits either.

I assume you don't think your Sudanese daughter in law doesn't come into that category
oops- double negative in effect, there.
Boris an immigrant? Pathetic argument. Are all the army kids considered immigrants as well?
more young "children" fleeing war-torn France for the far right and racist uk.
When will the powers that be start turning them back!
